This book provides a detailed review of diagnostic tests used in the investigation and management of patients with renal disease. The book is aimed at postgraduate doctors, but the diversity of topics covered means that, in addition to nephrologists, it would be useful to doctors practising in a number of specialities involved in the diagnosis of renal disease, including immunology, radiology and pathology, and other health workers (e.g. nurses, dieticians) in renal units. The aim is to provide a reference book for libraries and departments, as well as individual doctors. The book is divided into two parts: in the first a detailed description of tests used in nephrology, and the interpretation of abnormal results, is given. The second part describes how these tests are used in the investigation of specific renal disorders. The emphasis in the first part is on the principles underlying the test, understanding how it is performed, and the interpretation of abnormal results. The second part describes indications for the tests, and their use in clinical practice.
