(Continuação) Frago, Julia, Vincent, que tratam especificamente da cultura escolar, o estudo permitiu perceber que houve uma tentativa crescente de se controlar o trabalho e, principalmente, o tempo dos professores e dos alunos, impondo uma mudança na relação desses não só com a escola, mas com o próprio tempo. A gradativa difusão do ensino simultâneo pela escola graduada (grupos escolares) desencadeia uma racionalização do tempo na escola tanto no âmbito do calendário quanto da organização do dia de aula, racionalização essa aliada ao ideal de uniformização do funcionamento das escolas. Assim, procurou-se estabelecer calendários e propostas de estruturação do dia de aula com a especificação das disciplinas e atividades a serem dadas e o tempo a ser consagrado a cada uma delas para todos os tipos de escolas, ignorando-se até meados de 1910, a localidade e a situação precária dessas. Se é verdade que muitas foram as maneiras encontradas pelo Estado para prescrever o modo ideal de organizar o tempo escolar, de modo particular a legislação, seja no âmbito do calendário seja no âmbito da distribuição diária do tempo, não é menos verdade que as prescrições quase sempre eram muito debatidas e questionadas não só pelos legisladores, mas, principalmente pelos inspetores, diretores, professores e pais; eram, inclusive, reinventadas de forma especial pelos professores.
