Hydrothermal And Supercritical Water Processes written by Gerd Brunner and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-04-04 with Science categories.

Hydrothermal and Supercritical Water Processes presents an overview on the properties and applications of water at elevated temperatures and pressures. It combines fundamentals with production process aspects. Water is an extraordinary substance. At elevated temperatures (and pressures) its properties change dramatically due to the modifications of the molecular structure of bulk water that varies from a stable three-dimensional network, formed by hydrogen bonds at low and moderate temperatures, to an assembly of separated polar water molecules at high and supercritical temperatures. With varying pressure and temperature, water is turned from a solvent for ionic species to a solvent for polar and non-polar substances. This variability and an enhanced reactivity of water have led to many practical applications and to even more research activities, related to such areas as energy transfer, extraction of functional molecules, unique chemical reactions, biomass conversion and fuel materials processing, destruction of dangerous compounds and recycling of useful ones, growth of monolithic crystals, and preparation of metallic nanoparticles. This book provides an introduction into the wide range of activities that are possible in aqueous mixtures. It is organized to facilitate understanding of the main features, outlines the main applications, and gives access to further information Summarizes fundamental properties of water for engineering applications Compares process and reactor designs Evaluates processes from thermodynamic, economic, and social impact viewpoints

Thermal Management Of Electronic Systems Ii written by E. Beyne and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Technology & Engineering categories.

For the second time, the Eurotherm Committee has chosen Thermal Managment of Electronic Systems as the subject for its 45th Seminar, held at IMEC in Leuven, Belgium, from 20 to 22 September 1995. After the successfui first edition of this seminar in Delft, June 14-16, 1993, it was decided to repeat this event on a two year basis. This volume constitutes the edited proceedings of the Seminar. Thermal management of electronic systems is gaining importance. Whereas a few years ago papers on this subject where mainly devoted to applications in high end markets, such as mainframes and telecommunication switching equipment, we see a growing importance in the "lower" end applications. This may be understood from the growing impact of electronics on every day life, from car electronics, GSM phones, personal computers to electronic games. These applications add new requirements to the thermal design. The thermal problem and the applicable cooling strategies are quite different from those in high end products. In this seminar the latest developments in many of the different aspects of the thermal design of electronic systems were discussed. Particular attention was given to thermal modelling, experimental characterisation and the impact of thermal design on the reliability of electronic systems.

Thermosyphons And Heat Pipes Theory And Applications written by Marcia Barbosa Henriques Mantelli and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-12-22 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This book is about theories and applications of thermosyphons and heat pipes. It discusses the physical phenomena that drive the working principles of thermosyphons, heat pipes and related technologies. Many applications are discussed in this book, including: rationalizing energy use in industry, solar heating of houses, decrease of water consumption in cooling towers, improvement of the thermal performance of industrial and domestic ovens and driers and new devices for heating stored oil and gas in petrochemical plants. Besides, the book also presents heat pipe and thermosyphon technologies for the thermal management of electronic devices, from portable equipment to airplanes and satellites. The first part of the book explores the physical working principles of thermosyphons and heat pipes, by explaining current heat transfer and thermal resistance models. The author discusses the new heat pipe and thermosyphon technologies that have been developed in the last decade for solving a myriad of electronic, environment and industrial heat and thermal problems. The focus then shifts to the thermosyphon technology applications, and the models and simulations necessary for each application – including vehicles, domestic appliances, water conservation technologies and the thermal control of houses and other structures. Finally, the book looks at the new technologies for heat pipes (mini/micro) and similar devices (loop heat pipes), including new models for prediction of the thermal performance of porous media. This book inspires engineers to adopt innovative approaches to heat transfer problems in equipment and components by applying thermosyphon and heat pipe technologies. It is also of interest to researchers and academics working in the heat transfer field, and to students who wish to learn more about heat transfer devices.
