Jh. v. Chr. Einer der bekanntesten Sklavenaufstände ist der Spartacusaufstand, der in Süditalien in den Jahren 73 – 71 v. Chr. stattfand. Diese Hausarbeit ist eine vergleichende Quelleninterpretation zum Spartacusaufstand. Bereits in der Antike beschäftigten sich die Autoren mit diesem Ereignis. Es existieren mehrere Quellen, die den Spartacusaufstand zum Thema haben. In der Arbeit werden Quellenauszüge von Appian, Plutarch und Florus verwendet. Bereits bei diesen drei Autoren lassen sich erhebliche Unterschiede in der Beschreibung der Ereignisse des Spartacusaufstandes feststellen.

Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2004 im Fachbereich Weltgeschichte - Frühgeschichte, Antike, Note: 2,0, Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg (Institut für Geschichte), Veranstaltung: Proseminar, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Vor gut zweitausend Jahren, ca. 73 v. Chr., erhoben sich im Römischen Reich, nicht zum ersten Mal, die Sklaven. Nun jedoch in einem vorher nicht gekannten Ausmaß. Insgesamt werden wohl mehr als 120.000 Menschen unterschiedlicher sozialer Schichten beteiligt gewesen sein. Tausende fanden jedoch bis zum Jahre 71 v.Chr., dem Jahr der Beendigung der Aufstände durch ein zuletzt von Licinius Crassus geführtes römisches Heer, den Tod. Ihr Ziel war es, sich aus den menschenverachtenden Umständen der Sklaverei zu befreien. Der Triumph des römischen Heeres fand seinen Ausdruck in der brutalen Kreuzigung von 6000 gefangenen Aufständischen entlang der Via Appian. Die Quellen, aus denen wir unsere Kenntnisse ziehen können, sind sehr dünn, die bekanntesten Berichte finden wir in der Darstellung der römischen Bürgerkriege des Historikers Appian 1 , er lebte zur Zeit Hadrians. Die zweite bedeutende Quelle ist die Crassus-Vita des Plutarch aus der Zeit Trajans 2 . Einen zusammenhängenden Bericht über die Ereignisse findet sich bei dem Schriftsteller Florus in seiner Darstellung der römischen Kriege 3 . Allen drei Quellen haftet jedoch der Makel an, dass sie nicht zeitgenössisch sind. Eine bedeutende Quelle aus dieser Zeit sind die Historien des Sallust, sie sind jedoch nahezu vollständig verloren gegangen und nur noch sehr fragmentarisch verfügbar. Auch aus Ciceros zweiter Rede gegen Verres lassen sich Hinweise zu den Aufständen finden, soweit sie Sizilien betreffen. In der folgenden Arbeit sollen nun die zuerst genannten Quellen, die des Appian, des Plutarch und des Florus, in Auszügen behandelt werden. Es werden zunächst die Autoren, ihr Werk und ihr Leben soweit bekannt vorgestellt. Im Anschluss werden die drei Auszüge zur besseren Vergleichbarkeit in möglichst gleiche thematische Sinnabschnitte untergliedert. Im vierten Teil sollen die herausgearbeiteten Schwerpunkte der jeweiligen antiken Darstellung nach Gesichtspunkten des Inhalts, der Tendenz und der Form miteinander verglichen und interpretiert werden, die Interpretation folgt dann jedoch nicht der Gliederung sondern den thematischen Schwerpunkten. Dabei sollen die Aussagen der antiken Autoren, die in den Einzelheiten sehr unterschiedlich sind, durch Ergebnisse der Geschichtswissenschaft kritisch überprüft und ergänzt werden. Dabei kann, im Gegensatz zu einer herkömmlichen Quelleninterpretation, nicht so feingliedrig vorgegangen werden, da diese Arbeit einem vorgegebenen Rahmen folgen muss. [...]

Analyzes the role of the "Jewish question" in the politics of the German and Austrian Social Democratic parties before 1914. Socialism was not immune to antisemitism, and early socialists were ambivalent regarding the issue of Jewish emancipation. German Social Democracy parted ways with antisemitism only in the 1880s. At the same time, it tended to downplay antisemitism as a transitory phenomenon doomed to disappear. In the 1890s, on the wave of the "völkisch" movement, it even noted a revolutionary, anti-capitalist potential for antisemitism. While opposing antisemitism, the party did not want to appear as philosemitic. In Austria, populist antisemitism (e.g. that of Schönerer and Lueger) was more influential. It was only after Lueger's victory in Vienna that the Social Democrats altered their policy and attacked the Christian Socialists as a reactionary movement; to this end, they also used antisemitic arguments. As in Germany, Austrian Social Democrats tried to remain "neutral" toward antisemitism. In both Germany and Austria, the Social Democrats consistently denied that Jews constitute a nation and opposed all Jewish national movements.
