Eine Überforderung des Staates sei die Hauptursache steigender Staatsverschuldung. Wer ständig nach dem Staat rufe, dürfe sich nicht beklagen, wenn der Gerufene immer mehr seine Bürger "fürsorglich bevormunde". Dr. Klaus Valeske sieht die Bedeutung Rudolf Virchows für die heutige Zeit darin, dass er aufgezeigt hat, wie eine Gesellschaft Krisen und Pandemien bewältigen kann: auf wissenschaftlicher Grundlage mit der Kraft des besseren Arguments. Birgit Grüner erinnert an die fast vergessenen liberalen Politikerinnen Emmy Diemer-Nicolaus und Grete Kletke.
