In dieser Erklarung wird verdeutlicht, dass das Vertrauen der Kunden das wichtigste Gut sei und alles darangesetzt werde, das verlorene Vertrauen wiederzugewinnen. Doch seit Bekanntwerden der Manipulationen ruckt auch die Unternehmenskultur immer mehr in den Vordergrund. Der Betriebsratsvorsitzende des Konzerns fordert einen grundlegenden Kulturwandel" und die offene Ansprache von Problemen. Aus Angst hatten sich Ingenieure des Unternehmens nicht getraut, die verfalschten Werte an ihre Fuhrungskrafte weiterzugeben. Diese Angstkultur" sei sogar eine der Ursachen fur den sogenannten Abgas-Skandal. Anhand dieses Beispiels wird deutlich, dass fehlendes Vertrauen im Unternehmen durchaus personliche Ohnmacht" der Mitarbeiter und sogar schadliche Auswirkungen auf ihre Organisation und deren Wirtschaftserfolg" zur Folge haben kann. Doch nicht nur der offensichtliche Schaden durch fehlendes Vertrauen spricht dafur, eine gut funktionierende Vertrauenskultur im Unternehmen zu implementieren. Vertrauen als Multiplikator fur Veranderungsbereitschaft der Mitarbeiter und als Basis fur steigende Innovationsfahigkeit durch mehr Selbstvertrauen gilt mittlerweile als Erfolgsfaktor" in einem Unternehmen. Ein Erfolgsfaktor, der angesichts der grossen Herausforderungen wie der steigende Kosten- und Innovationsdruck sowie die Digitalisierung mit all ihren Veranderungen in der Organisation und Zusammenarbeit von grosser Bedeutung sein wird. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, herauszufinden, welche Voraussetzungen fur Vertrauen in Betrieben notwendig sind und wie eine Vertrauenskultur im nachsten Schritt nachhaltig im Unternehmen implementie"

Diese Führungskraft wurde als allwissender, harter, zum Teil sogar gieriger Entscheidungsträger dargestellt, der mit Arbeit überschüttet ist. Die Kontrolle der Mitarbeiter spielte eine priorisierte Rolle in der Art der Unternehmensführung solcher Führungskräfte. Diese, früher meist als Voraussetzung für den Geschäftserfolg genannten Eigenschaften, sind im Allgemeinen nicht die Eigenschaften, die man bei einem Freund oder einer vertrauten Person finden würde, und so entwickelte sich im Laufe der Zeit eine deutliche Tendenz weg von diesem kontrollierenden Führungsstil und hin zu einer vertrauensbasierten Führung. Es wurde immer ersichtlicher, dass gerade das „Loslassen“ von Mitarbeitern, sowie der Trend weg von den sogenannten IBM-Suits und hin zur Wertschätzung der Individualität Erfolg bringend sind. Unabhängig von Größe oder Branche eines Unternehmens, wurde in Studien immer wieder belegt, dass Vertrauen und Individualität einen relevanten Faktor in Bezug auf niedrigere Transaktionskosten, sowie erhöhte Leistungsbereitschaft darstellen. Albert Einstein formulierte sehr trefflich: „Es ist nicht genug, den Menschen ein Spezialfach zu lehren. Dadurch wird er zwar zu einer Art benutzbarer Maschine, aber nicht zu einer vollwertigen Persönlichkeit. Es kommt darauf an, dass er ein lebendiges Gefühl dafür bekommt, was zu erstreben wert ist. Sonst gleicht er mit seiner spezialisierten Fachkenntnis mehr einem wohlabgerichteten Hund als einem harmonisch entwickelten Geschöpf. Er muss die Motive der Menschen, deren Illusionen, deren Leiden verstehen lernen, um eine richtige Einstellung zu den einzelnen Mitmenschen und zur Gemeinschaft zu erwerben.“
