Le centralisme français est source de blocage pour penser l'aménagement du territoire en intégrant l'espace européen. Le projet ferroviaire Via Atlantica reste donc ignoré par la technostructure parisienne malgré ses atouts pour réparer les fractures territoriales de notre pays. Il offre aussi au Lyon-Turin sa prolongation naturelle vers la façade atlantique. Et pourtant, au moins trois projets auraient pu y contribuer, mais les débats publics sont restés du divertissement. Dans un pays fragmenté et archipélisé, la Via Atlantica peut fédérer 37 % de la population et donne du sens pour refaire peuple dans une oeuvre commune, chacun étant appelé à co-construire le triangle Bretagne-Pays basque-Alpes. Le rail doit jouer son rôle d'outil des transitions écologique et énergétique. La Via Atlantica se fera si la majorité silencieuse devient une majorité agissante et si, face à l'État, l'Union européenne prend le relais pour achever le réseau structurant le continent.

Ce manuel couvre le programme d'histoire et de géographie des classes de première et terminale du bac technologique STAV : analyse des événements fondamentaux qui ont marqué la période de 1850 à aujourd'hui et compréhension des dynamiques sociospatiales et des enjeux, notamment de durabilité, qui caractérisent ce début du xxie siècle. Il est organisé en cinq parties : deux en histoire (l'Europe et le monde de1850 à 1939 ; le monde depuis 1939), deux en géographie (dynamiques des territoires ; le monde d'aujourd'hui) et la première partie qui fait appel à la pluridisciplinarité. L'ouvrage, construit sur une grande diversité documentaire (textes historiques et géographiques ou d'analyse, illustrations, schémas, tableaux et cartes), présente la grande originalité de proposer aux enseignants, pour chacun des chapitres, deux parcours pédagogiques : - un premier parcours propose un ensemble de questions pour exploiter le corpus documentaire proposé et comprendre une situation historique ou géographique en lien avec les principaux axes problématiques de la question au programme ; - un second parcours place l'élève dans une situation pédagogique où il doit répondre à une commande : pour cela, l'élève construit d'abord un outil de diagnostic qui va lui permettre de conduire une enquête au fil des doubles pages du chapitre. Une synthèse, une ouverture ainsi que des indications bibliographiques complètent chaque chapitre qui se termine par deux sujets d'examen. Le questionnement des doubles pages et des sujets tient compte des savoir-faire exigés par l'épreuve terminale du bac technologique STAV en histoire-géographie et sert de préparation aux deux parties de l'épreuve. Un site compagnon propose aux enseignants souhaitant s'engager dans le second parcours des outils didactiques et des informations complémentaires.
