Brimbank City Council embarked on the project -- Sunshine Energy Park -- on a 45 hectare former landfill gas site three years ago. The site had been earmarked for potential use as an urban renewable energy generation hub and business promotions and community engagement hub. But after a series of feasibility studies and recommendations, the project is about to be discontinued. This case study illustrates how managing a very technical project without significant technical knowledge and limited availability of consultants with relevant expertise can be a barrier to distributed energy generation projects.

More than 500 households signed up.
