Muchas y excelentes son las publicaciones existentes al respecto, lo que haría pretencioso el intento. Mediante la transcripción de conferencias, discursos parlamentarios y publicaciones de la Gaceta, este libro aspira a ofrecer unas pinceladas de la intensa trayectoria vital de Clara Campoamor. En el material que se reproduce queda demostrado que en su corazón estaba grabado el ideal de una España libre y justa. Para lograrlo, Clara Campoamor no conoció, como en nuestros días, nada parecido a la disciplina de voto o de partido, afrontó las burlas de sus detractores y la venganza de antiguos compañeros de lucha, y soportó con entereza en medio de su dolor un exilio en el que se mantuvo con su trabajo hasta avanzada edad, confiando sólo en un reducido grupo de amigos incondicionales. Sirva pues este texto como homenaje a tan preclara mujer española en el cincuentenario de su muerte.

This edited collection offers the latest research into the reproduction of ‘hegemonic’ discourse and the ways in which the description and evaluation of social groups affects their ability to exercise cultural and political autonomy. The book examines the representations of a number of communities and social groups, both within their ‘micro-contexts’, and with reference to the economic, political, social, cultural and technological ‘macro-contexts’ in which they are embedded. The analysis highlights the connections between discourse, power, dominance and social inequality, focusing on patriarchal, capitalist and postcolonial representations and power imbalances. Based on a combination of theoretical and empirical analyses, the collection offers an array of macro-social critiques based on the analysis and critical understanding of contemporary contexts and representations, and how they contribute to political, social, economic and cultural practices.

El trabajo consiste en el análisis y la edición de la primera biografía de Francisco de Quevedo escrita por el sacerdote napolitano Pablo Antonio de Tarsia. La amistad del escritor italiano con el sobrino de Quevedo don Pedro Aldrete tras su llegada a la Corte española en 1644 en calidad de jurisconsulto del conde de Conversano propició la redacción de este primero documento biográfico exento sobre el escritor madrileño. La edición prínceps de la Vida de don Francisco de Quevedo, que salió a la luz de la imprenta de Pablo de Val en Madrid en el año 1663, se ha reeditado en reducidas ocasiones y en facsímil, por lo que la obra requería un estudio preciso y una edición moderna. El prólogo profundiza con una perspectiva crítica en la creación del escritor napolitano analizando, entre otras cosas, los móviles que promovieron su publicación, el discurso apologético de la semblanza y los límites entre la verdad y la ficción; asimismo pretende ofrecer una edición anotada fiel al original de la princeps con observaciones a pie de página de diverso contenido ?histórico, filológico, cultural y literario? para facilitar al lector una adecuada interpretación de la obra.
