Entre les seves obres podem destacar L'atles furtiu (Premi Sant Jordi 1997), L'Avi (Premi Néstor Luján 2000; ficció inspirada en la vida de Francesc Macià), la trilogia 1714 (ambientada en l'Onze de Setembre català), Les set aromes del món (Premi Ramon Llull 2004) i Heretaràs la Rambla (2005; sàtira de la Barcelona actual). A més d'escriptor, Alfred Bosch és professor d'història a la Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Com a assagista, entre altres títols ha publicat El Imperio que nunca existió (2001; sobre l'expansionisme de Franco) i Europa sense embuts (2003). Escriu una columna diària al diari Avui, ha publicat nombrosos articles d'història i política internacional i és un viatger vocacional. Diverses obres seves han estat traduïdes al castellà, al francès i al portuguès.Noemí Ibáñez (Barcelona, 1964), filòloga, filòsofa i psicòloga. Va fer els estudis previs a la planificació lingüística dels Jocs de Barcelona'92, publicats amb el títol La llengua i els Jocs Olímpics, i té una llarga experiència en l'ensenyament del català. Ha liderat diverses experiències de creació i d'animació de teatre experimental i ha publicat diversos articles sobre l'aplicació de l'art en les problemàtiques socials. Actualment viu a París, on es dedica a la investigació i a la pràctica de la dansa i del teatre en l'àmbit psiquiàtric.

Short story writing has flourished in twentieth-century Ireland and Catalonia. The genre has attracted some of the finest writers but in particular women authors. This book considers the disadvantaged position of women in Irish and Catalan society as refracted through the medium of the short story. The writers under discussion include Edna O'Brien, Julia O'Faolain, Eilis Ni Dhuihne, Mary Beckett, Clare Boylan, Mary Dorcey, Angela Bourke, Katy Hayes and Anne Devlin. Women Write Back also explores the subordinate position of Ireland and Catalonia historically in relation to the metropolitan powers of Britain and Spain respectively. The cultural implications of the colonial connection are considered from the viewpoint of women and men. The study breaks new ground in placing Ireland and Catalonia within the same comparative framework. There are of course differences between the two societies: the languages and geographical settings are far removed, for instance. But, on closer analysis, it is the similarities which predominate. Both are post-colonial societies, the status of women in many respects is comparable; issues of identity and language are to the forefront of consciousness and national debate. In this book feminist theorising and post-colonial discourses are fruitfully brought to bear on the literary creations of Irish and Catalan short story writers, in what might be described also as an exercise in literary decolonization. Women Write Back was awarded the distinction of the VI Premios de Ensayo de Catalán, Gallego y Vasco for the year 2000 by the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia in Spain.

This book proposes an innovative conceptual framework to explore cultural organizations at a multilateral level and cultural mediators as key figures in cultural and institutionalization processes. Specifically, it analyzes the role of Ibero-American mediators in the institutionalization of Hispanic and Lusophone cultures in the first half of the 20th century by means of two institutional networks: PEN (the non-governmental writer’s association) and the International Institute of Intellectual Cooperation (predecessor to UNESCO). Attempting to combine cultural and global history, sociology, and literary studies, the book uses an analytical focus on intercultural networks and cultural transfer to investigate the multiple activities and roles that these mediators and cultural organizations set in motion. Literature has traditionally studied major figures and important centers of cultural production, but other regions and localities also played a crucial role in the development of intellectual cooperation. This book reappraises the place of Ibero-America in international cultural relations and retrieves the lost history of key secondary actors. The book will appeal to scholars from international relations, global and cultural history, sociology, postcolonial Studies, world and comparative literature, and New Hispanisms.
