The apostle Matthew recorded the words of Jesus in chapter eleven when Jesus said, "The kingdom of God suffers violence and the violent take it by force!" The revelation of this Scripture is the quintessential order experienced by God's elect as they seek God's Kingdom and His righteousness. This order supports the life experiences of humans on the earth as spoken in God's curse as the results of man's disobedience in the Garden of Eden. Not many Christians understand this order or the spiritual provisions God established in His plan for the world before it was formed. Jesus used the life of John the Baptist to illustrate the character one must have in seeking God's Kingdom. John, who by faith and blind devotion, surrendered his life to Jesus Christ and to God's Kingdom. Jesus said in verse eleven, "Assuredly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist. John's adult life was characterized by his tenacity to advance the knowledge of Jesus Christ despite the antagonism from Jesus enemies, the religious leaders of His day, the scribes and the Pharisees. John the Baptist was a man filled with love, faith and obedience to Jesus and to God's Word! He was a role model to those of us who seek the Kingdom of God despite the afflictions, hardships and sufferings one must bear! Taking the Kingdom by force refers to those who make a concerted effort to enter the kingdom in spite of violent opposition. This opposition comes in many forms including our carnal mind, which is enmity against God and the lust of our own human flesh. Individuals seeking the Kingdom must display certain character traits as revealed in this book, "The Kingdom of God Suffers Violence!" Unfortunately, not many Christian leaders have been privy to this revelation or its purpose in those God predestinated, called, justified and glorified before the world was made. However, in the fullness of time, these truths are being made known. As you read this book, please seek God's wisdom and understanding in order to rightly discern its contents.

Violence and Power in Ancient Egypt examines the use of Egyptian pictures of violence prior to the New Kingdom. Starting with the assertion that making and displaying such images served as a tactic of power, related to but separate from the actual practice of violence, the book explores the development and deployment of this imagery across different contexts. By comparatively utilizing violent images from a variety of other times and cultures, the book asks that we consider not only how Egyptian imagery was related to Egyptian violence, but also why people create pictures of violence and place them where they do, and how such images communicate what to whom. By cataloging and querying Egyptian imagery of violence from different periods and different contexts—royal tombs, divine temples, the landscape, portable objects, and private tombs—Violence and Power highlights the nuances of the relationship between aspects of royal ideology, art, and its audiences in the first half of pharaonic Egyptian history.

A Revolutionary Jesus written by Jesse P. Nickel and has been published by Fortress Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-09-24 with Religion categories.

This book is about Jesus's perspective on violence, the ways this is demonstrated in his ministry, and its implications for Jesus's followers. It begins by examining the nature and role of violence within Second Temple Jewish eschatology. "Eschatological violence"--violence connected in some way with eschatological expectations--was an important factor in the world of Jesus and his contemporaries. Many believed that God's long-awaited deliverance was contingent on his people's taking up the sword against their oppressors, thus demonstrating their zealous allegiance to the covenant. In contrast, Jesus articulated and enacted a vision for God's reign in which violence was completely disassociated both from the means of the kingdom's inauguration and from the character of those who belonged to it. This was a kingdom defined by peace, whose people would be identified by peacemaking, exemplified by its Lord, whose victory was accomplished in giving his own life. Jesus's rejection of violence thus grew from the very core of his understanding of his task, his identity, and the character of the kingdom. To be a disciple is to follow Jesus's teaching and example. Therefore, it is clear that violence should have no place in Christian praxis.
