Il 24 maggio 2019, in occasione dei trentacinque anni dalla scomparsa di questa figura, tra le più luminose del cattolicesimo bresciano, ispiratore e promotore di innumerevoli iniziative educative, culturali, caritative sull’esempio di un altro grande testimone come il beato Giuseppe Tovini, la Fondazione Giuseppe Tovini, in collaborazione con la Cattedra UNESCO “Education for Human Development and Solidarity among Peoples” - Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, ha promosso un significativo momento di approfondimento costituito da una Tavola rotonda sul tema Vittorino Chizzolini e i giovani. Il presente volume raccoglie le riflessioni maturate nel corso della Tavola rotonda, in cui è emersa la grande attualità di questo “maestro dei maestri”, come amava appellarlo Giuseppe Camadini, suo grande estimatore. Originating in Finland in eighteen-sixty-five, Educational Sloyd used handicrafts practised in schools to promote educational completeness through the interdependence of the mind and body. In the sixteenth century, European missionaries brought a foreign and global religion to China. Converts then transformed this new religion into a local one. Focusing on the still-active Catholic communities of Fuan county in northeast Fujian, this project addresses three main questions. Why did people convert? Second, how did converts and missionaries transform a global and foreign religion into a local religion? Third, what does Christianity's localization in Fuan tell us about the relationship between late imperial Chinese society and religion? The study's implications extend beyond the issue of Christianity in China to the wider fields of religious and social history and the early modern history of global intercultural relations. The book suggests that Christianity became part of a pre-existing pluralistic, local religious space. The author argues that we underestimate late imperial society's tolerance for "heterodoxy." The view from Fuan offers an original account of how a locality created its own religious culture in Ming-Qing China.

Italy's residents are a migratory people. Since 1800 well over 27 million left home, but over half also returned home again.
