Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2003 im Fachbereich Philosophie - Theoretische (Erkenntnis, Wissenschaft, Logik, Sprache), Note: 1,0, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Indem man nämlich auf den Gebrauch des Wortes Wahrheit schaute, erkannte man, dass dieses Wort in einem engen Zusammenhang mit unserem Verständnis von Wissen als wahre, gerechtfertigte Meinung steht und darüber hinaus ebenfalls einen engen Bezug zu unserer Auffassung von Vernunft bzw. Rationalität hat. Diese Verknüpfungen mit anderen fundamentalen Begriffen lassen die modernen Erklärungsversuche innerhalb des philosophisch anerkannten Sprachparadigmas weit auseinandertreten. Insbesondere das Verhältnis zwischen den Begriffen der "Wahrheit" und der "Rechtfertigung" und ihre Beziehungen zueinander erscheinen problematisch. Es lassen sich zwei grundsätzliche Strategien voneinander abgrenzen; einerseits wird versucht, an den realistischen Intuitionen eines normativen Unterschiedes, nämlich das Wahrheit eine unbedingte und unverlierbare Eigenschaft von Sätzen ist im Gegensatz zu bloßer Rechtfertigung, festzuhalten, andererseits erklärt man den Wahrheitsbegriff für weitgehend normativ irrelevant in unserem Sprachgebrauch und assimiliert seine ursprüngliche Bedeutung an die kontextabhängige Rechtfertigungspraxis in jeweils gegebenen Kommunikationsgemeinschaften. Erstere wird von u.a. von dem Sozialphilosophen Jürgen Habermas vertreten, während die zweite Strategie, welche allgemein als die deflationistische Position bezeichnet wird, in dem Philosophen Richard Rorty einen prominenten Vertreter hat. Aufgabe dieser Arbeit soll es sein, beide widersprüchlichen Ansätze miteinander zu vergleichen und herauszuarbeiten, auf welchem Wege eine angemessenere Erklärung des Begriffes von Wahrheit möglich ist. In Oughts and Thoughts, Anandi Hattiangadi provides an innovative response to the argument for meaning scepticism set out by Saul Kripke in Wittgenstein on Rules and Private Language. Kripke asks what makes it the case that anybody ever means anything by any word, and argues that there are no facts of the matter as to what anybody ever means. Kripke's argument has inspired a lively and extended debate in the philosophy of language, as it raises some of the most fundamental issues in the field: namely, the reality, privacy, and normativity of meaning. Hattiangadi argues that in order to achieve the radical conclusion that there are no facts as to what a person means by a word, the sceptic must rely on the thesis that meaning is normative, and that this thesis fails. Since any 'sceptical solution' to the sceptical problem is irremediably incoherent, Hattiangadi concludes that there must be a fact of the matter about what we mean.
