The show that we're about to do is a story about the future. The story that we're going to tell is the story of us; the story of our future. It's a story that we are going to tell together. I hope that sounds okay. From the makers of Five Encounters on a Site Called Craigslist and the accident did not take place comes an act of communal storytelling. There's a baby born in a lighthouse, a man on fire in the middle of the desert, two lovers reunited in a ruined city, there's a dying spaceship on the edge of a black hole. we were promised honey! is a hopeful, hopeless prophecy for humankind. A meditation on inevitability, despair and how we tell a story when we already know the end. This new edition includes a foreword written by Katie Hawthorne. This edition was published to coincide with the production at London's Soho Theatre in November 2022, following a successful run at Edinburgh Fringe 2022.

Don’t just lose weight, but keep it off once and for all! How intuitive eating is the absolute best way to lead a sustained and healthy lifestyle… How often have you heard, “You shouldn’t eat that because of reasons x,y,z”? Or how about this one, “Why would you ask me to eat that? You know I’m in the middle of my fasting window!” Your best friend screaming this across the table at you, obviously dealing with some low blood sugar issues. Statements such as these are all too common nowadays, and with the food and diet industry actively doing all they can to manipulate us into buying more, finding solutions that are actually healthy can often seem quite daunting. Aren’t you sick and tired of all of this? Have you yourself been yo-yo dieting for far too long? Maybe you’ve tried it all and nothing seems to be working? Or maybe you’ve even succeeded in the past, but the weight, the bloating and the lack of energy just keep coming back? It doesn’t have to be this way. There are certain things we can do for ourselves, habits we can integrate, that will build us a healthy and sustainable lifestyle. Even if none of the above is true for you, surely you would like to feel less inflamed, more energized, and completely free to eat whatever you like, whenever you like? Such a reality is far from fantasy, we just need to properly understand our relationship with food. That’s why Intuitive Eating starts by looking at: -An understanding around our emotionally charged responses to food -Knowing what kind of eater you are - yes, there are different types -And, how to push past our own fears when it comes to listening to our bodies From here you’ll find yourself empowered and ready to break free from the dieting paradigm. Whether you’re trying to lose weight (and actually keep it off), or you’re simply wanting to increase your physical and mental performance, Intuitive Eating is the Bulletproof Guide of 2019. In Intuitive Eating you’ll discover: -Surprising facts about why we eat the way we do that will blow your mind -What scientists say about the psychology of eating intuitively -The principles of intuitive eating that are guaranteed to bring you success -7 mistakes 99,7% of people make but you don’t have to make -How listening to your body is the #1 way to lose weight -The ultimate guide to avoiding any accompanying eating disorders And so much more. No more stress around what you ‘can’ or cannot’ eat. No more concerns with when it’s a good time to eat or not, and how much? After reading Intuitive Eating you’ll know exactly how to listen to your body, and how to give it exactly what it needs precisely when it needs it. If you want to leave behind all this dieting ‘bla-bla’ for good and instead find yourself within a reality of complete and total food freedom, then you need this book today!

The Last Passage written by Donald Heinz and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1998-12-17 with Social Science categories.

Is death merely the cessation of life? Are our final years simply a wearing out of the body? Are hospitals and funeral homes--the bureaucratic machinery of death--capable of handling the profound spiritual dimension of dying? In The Last Passage, Donald Heinz offers wise answers to these questions in a book that urges us to "recover a death of our own" and to view our final years as a fulfillment, a "last career." Despite the recent spate of books on death and dying, death remains a fact our culture tries desperately to ignore. In other times and in other cultures, preparing for death was seen as an important spiritual task--perhaps the most important task of our lives. Heinz argues that we can reconceive of death, reinvest it with meaning, and save it from becoming a meaningless biological event. Seeking appropriate models for such a reconstruction, Heinz offers a fascinating overview of the many ways death has been envisioned and ritualized throughout human history, from the Tibetan Book of the Dead to 15th century Christian ars moriendi--manuals on the art of dying--and from Jean Paul Sartre to Elizabeth Kubler-Ross. He also surveys the more recent contributions of psychologists, anthropologists, cultural critics, and death awareness advocates, whose efforts have largely failed to integrate death into a larger human story and the larger human community. Finally, Heinz shows us how we might create rituals through the use of music, visual arts, dance, drama, and language that would enable us to approach death with reverence, as the spiritual consummation of our lives.

Furthest Peoples First written by Glenn Geelhoed and has been published by Greenleaf Book Group this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-10-20 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

When the world’s remotest populations need medical care and training, Mission to Heal takes the operating rooms to them—no matter how far away they are. Dr. Glenn W. Geelhoed is a medical doctor, humanitarian, and the founder of Mission to Heal (M2H), an organization through which he has conducted medical mission trips around the globe for over forty years. Using mobile surgery units made from repurposed rugged vehicles, M2H provides needed surgery to some of the world’s most destitute people in some of the most desolate places on the planet. Just as —or even more—important is the crucial surgical training M2H provides to local citizens so that they can take over after Dr. Geelhoed and his teams move on to their next mission. Furthest Peoples First tracks Dr. Glenn Geelhoed’s latest missions in three African transects during the first seven months of 2019. Humanity and humility underscore the essence of M2H’s efforts to reach the neediest first. With powerful stories of overland treks and culturally rich photojournalism, Dr. Geelhoed shares the people he met and the challenges his team faced—and the determination, patience, and partnerships that make his work successful, rewarding, and essential. Readers will be surprised, shocked—and uplifted—by how this team persevered in the face of countless unimaginable obstacles. The title Furthest Peoples First refers to individuals and groups who are the furthest from care and whom the author considers his primary focus. The resourcefulness of the furthest peoples embodies the hope they have for their own progress. Dr. Geelhoed believes that this hope should be enhanced through education and training and not be smothered by handouts, takeovers, or a one-size-fits-all standardization of medical care from first-world redundancy. Dr. Geelhoed received his BS and AB from Calvin College and his MD cum laude from the University of Michigan. He completed his surgical internship and residency through Harvard University at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital Medical Center. To continue his work of creating further volunteer surgical services in underserved areas of the developing world, he completed master’s and doctoral degrees in international affairs, epidemiology, health promotion and disease prevention, anthropology, tropical medicine, educational leadership, and philosophy. Dr. Geelhoed has received numerous recognitions for his work in global healthcare, including the prestigious humanitarian award for outreach to the underserved from the American College of Surgeons, one of the highest honors in the surgical field. He is professor of surgery and international medical education at George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, DC, and is a member of numerous medical, surgical, and international academic societies. Dr. Geelhoed is also an avid game hunter and runner. He has completed more than 165 marathons across the globe, and he is a widely published author, credited with several books and more than 800 published journal articles. When he is not on overseas M2H missions, he resides at his home in Derwood, Maryland, and enjoys spending time with his two sons and five grandchildren. With the proceeds from this book, the author hopes to sustain, support, and institutionalize M2H’s vital work and attract volunteers to join him in that work and his educational efforts.
