Zu diesem Thema finden sich in der Literatur viele theoretische Betrachtungen, doch wissenschaftliche Arbeiten über den konkreten Einsatz von Web 2.0-Anwendungen im Projektmanagement sind nur spärlich vorhanden. Die vorliegende Arbeit will diese Lücke schließen. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, durch eine empirische Untersuchung den erwähnten praktischen Einsatz von Web 2.0-Anwendungen im Projektmanagement zu untersuchen. Hierbei stehen die Fragestellungen "Welche Web 2.0-Anwendungen werden tatsächlich eingesetzt?", "Welchen Problemen wird mit diesen Anwendungen begegnet?" und "Welcher Nutzen wird aus diesen Web 2.0-Anwendungen gezogen?" im Vordergrund. Um Antworten auf diese Fragen zu erhalten, wurde eine schriftliche Online- Befragung von Personen, die im Projektmanagement tätig sind, durchgeführt.

Die Bedeutung von Projekten und dem damit einhergehendem Projektmanagement wird immer höher. Projekte sind nicht mehr aus dem Alltag vieler Unternehmen und somit auch aus dem Leben der Mitarbeiter wegzudenken. Ein wichtiger Erfolgsfaktor für die erfolgreiche Durchführung von Projekten ist die Kommunikation und Koordination zwischen den einzelnen Projektteilnehmern. Hier scheitert es oft an den passenden, technischen Möglichkeiten um diese Prozesse effizienter zu gestalten. Das Web 2.0 mit seinen Tools bietet viele neue Möglichkeiten für Unternehmen, jedoch ist die Nutzung dieser Tools in vielen Organisationen noch nicht weit verbreitet. Die Arbeit soll klären inwiefern Web 2.0 Tools wie Blogs, Wikis, Social Networks etc. als Unterstützung für die Abwicklung von Projekten in Organisationen dienen können. Dafür werden der Begriff Web 2.0 und ausgewählte Tools und Konzepte des Web 2.0 vorgestellt. Weiter wird auf die Grundlagen des Projektmanagements und Aktivitäten innerhalb des Projektmanagements eingegangen. Im letzten Kapitel werden die Konzepte des Web 2.0 den Aktivitäten und Aufgaben des Projektmanagements gegenübergestellt. Hier wird geklärt, welche Web 2.0 Tools welche Aktivitäten innerhalb des Projektmanagements sinnvoll unterstützen können. Ausgehend von der Problemstellung und Zielsetzung ergeben sich nun folgende Forschungsfragen (kurz FS) die in der vorliegenden Arbeit schrittweise beantwortet werden: FS 1: Was ist Web 2.0?
