Excerpt from Weekly News Series, 1936 The summary shows that in approximately 250 comparisons of yields made between cotton grown following a cover crop and cotton grown without a cover crop, but otherwise under identical conditions, the average yield on the land where no winter cover crop was used, was 264 pounds less of Seed cotton per acre than the average yield of pounds produced on the land where the winter crop was planted, says. From.that date to march.28th, more families came for unemployment relief be cause the breadwinners had lost their jobs, than left our rolls because they obtained private employment. This trend had not yet changed in the last week for which we have figures April 4th when 854 more came to us through loss of private jobs than we discontinued because of gained private employment.
