Topology written by Christophe Girot and has been published by Jovis Verlag this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013 with Aesthetics categories.

"How can an abstract term like 'Topology' become pertinent and effective to landscape thinking today? There is a schism between the way landscape is understood scientifically, either as a normative network or an environmental system, and the way the same place exists emotionally for people. This disparity which prevails in today's landscape calls for a change of approach, both in terms of action and perception. Topology, in this instance, is not confined to the science of continuous surfaces in mathematics, it can pay greater attention to deeper spatial, physical, poetic and philosophical values embedded in a long tradition of designed nature. The strength of landscape topology is that it can weave together and integrate heterogeneous fields of action into a single meaningful whole. It brings disciplines together on a common topological 'vellum' capable of improving our understanding of landscape as a cultural construct with all its inherent beauty and strength"--

Public space is essential to vital cities and inclusive, resilient societies. But how might we create more of it in our densely packed cities? The solution is lying before us: the vast amount of space that can be reclaimed by transforming areas dominated by cars and now congested with traffic into truly public spaces. But before we can do that, we must work toward a better balance between mobility and place: more room for pedestrians and cyclists, much less for cars and trucks transporting both people and goods. Traffic Space is Public Space is no traditional book on planning principles in urban design. It won't give you a rigid set of rules. But it will introduce you to new approaches and strategies to trigger change: networking, shared use of space, a circular urban metabolism and the revitalization of local economies, a participative process involving local businesses, and an appropriate aesthetic. Packed with inspiring projects from around the world, including some from the authors own urban planning and design firm, Artgineering, Traffic Space is Public Space offers forward-looking insights into how we can increase the quality of space and thus life in in our cities.

This monograph includes texts, sketches and photographs, and covers recent projects such as the Silvertower and the new Städel Museum in Frankfurt am Main.

Ways To Tie Trees written by and has been published by Steidl this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-02 with categories.

Between August and December 2015, Woong Soak Teng explored the man-made garden city of Singapore and made portraits of its staked trees. As in many cities around the world, here trees are uprooted and relocated to conform to a controlled cityscape determined by urban planning. As part of an attempt to construct productive and aesthetic living environments for ourselves, nature has long since been subjected to manipulation at the mercy of human hands. Featuring a diversity of (sometimes unorthodox) approaches to the art of tree-tying, this book presents an intimate encounter with the trees and their much-overlooked supporting structures, which have become an integral element of the human habitat. Teng_s consistent, frontal approach and detailed captions based on the trees_ locations lend her works a topographical quality which complements the almost abstract elegance of her subjects.
