Life itself wants to live. All knowledge could be packed into a pyramid, where at the tip, only one word is present: life. The word "life" by itself does not have enough meaning, and its definition does not give all the necessary information about its various types of existence. Humanity has an abundance of knowledge, and yet we can detect that any doing or thinking can, in the end, be reduced to "life." Therefore, we have a hierarchy of importance. Life will probably only be completely understood once all information has been collected, then evaluated, and associated - an impossible task, due to continuous creation of new knowledge and discoveries, and changes in perspectives, which require information to be evaluated and associated again. Perhaps a few main points will suffice to have orientation in life, and any knowledge regarding these main points can be expanded or replaced without changing the quality in understanding life significantly. My Philosophy provides a few main points that are listed in the pyramid of knowledge directly below "life." The brief corollaries in My Philosophy may not be understood right away, and are the basis for the book Philosophy of Life, where life is addressed in more detail. It is like life itself, which can only be understood by having accumulated large amounts of information and personal experiences. The reader of My Philosophy will probably gain a deeper insight after having read Philosophy of Life and will therefore be able to compare and evaluate his personal experiences.

Before "New Age" there was "New Thought," a philosophy that sought God through metaphysics and was wildly popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. American mystic and bestselling author RALPH WALDO TRINE (1866-1958) was one of the most significant writers on New Thought principles, and here, in this charming 1921 volume, Trine reveals some of the ideas that he found "true and valuable," including: . the power of intution, and the necessity of trusting it . why it's important to cultivate aloneness and silence . how to open to the vibrations of everything and everyone around us . the most vital lessons from the teachings of Jesus . and more. A commanding writer and a provocative philosopher, Trine was a man ahead of his time... and perhaps still is today.

this book, the collection of my previous writing in both english and chinese, have aimed at serving the readers in a more opened and philosophical mindset, should some of the words of mine, be inspiring to you, make your life better by making your mood better, or simply generate some resonance, let you feel less lonely or alone. life is always so specific and precise, whatever happens, could happen, never happen "abstractly" nor " generally" to any individual, so when it comes to the term "philosophy" we should sensibly doubt , if such thing actually exist, or could exist in actuality. the answer is no, it doesn't, to my own understanding, philosophy isn't a thing, isn't any "happening", is rather very useless, if you or someone looks at it as a "thing" or simple call it with some "names". i have had my interests in it for many years. it has made me wiser while in the meantime made me stupider. i wrote this book, in the hope to provide a level of food for thoughts that, most of the people have heard of, even thought of themselves, but probably i have , somehow managed to phrase them in a funny or unique ways. this is a book of wisdom, so collected and edited by me, written by me, but inspired by many many people, most of them are ordinary people. i hope you would enjoy the food i have provided. thought there's no chef on earth can cook for all men and suit all appetite , i hope at least i wouldn't ruin the taste of philosophy in your mind.

If you want to experience lasting success in life and business, a personal philosophy is essential. More than an action statement, your philosophy expresses the values that drive your actions. Author and entrepreneur Charles King eloquently illustrates this in his contemporary business parable, What's My Philosophy?, which tells the fictional story of thirty-five-year-old CEO Jim Lincoln. Jim's well-known California pet supply company hasn't weathered the recent economic recession well. Given an ultimatum by board president Allen Kline, Jim must turn the company around in three months-or be forced out. Knowing he won't get any support from Allen, Jim hopes that he and his brilliant executive assistant, Donna Randle, can figure out how to right the ship before it's too late. When things seem bleakest, Jim meets George Waddles, a wise, mysterious stranger who offers to help him with his company's issues. Together they explore what it means to have a philosophy, and Jim learns how knowing his foundational values fuels his ability to overcome the challenges he faces at work and home. Be inspired to craft your own philosophy...and experience the dividends in the years to come.

With a wealth of anecdote Dorothy Emmet looks back on the philosophers who made a personal impact on her. She brings to life the Oxford of the 1920s, and writes particularly about H.A. Pritchard and R.G. Collingwood. She knew A.N. Whitehead and Samuel Alexander, and remembers philosophers who struggled with political dilemmas when a number of intellectuals were turning to Marxism. Describing the post-war period she recalls R.B. Braithwaite, Michael Polanyi, Alasdair MacIntyre and others. Her personal portraits will interest a wide readership, as well as making essential reading for professional philosophers.

Not just anyone sits down to write their own personal Bible. The famous one, popular with millions of Christians, was penned by 35-40 different authors, over a span of some 1100 years. As of 1995, it was still considered (Guinness) the world’s #1 best seller of all-time. In stark contrast, Michael’s 2-volume Principles of Philosophy was meditated, contemplated, drafted, and written - in deep anonymity and solitude - over a daily and nightly 30-month span. His two books come in at over 800,000 words (the same as ten 80,000-word works). With the King James Old and New Testament totaling just over 783,000 words, it is easy to see why Michael views himself as both prolific (plentiful) and loquacious (talkative) when it pertains to laying down thought. As the Bible is for millions on the planet, Michael feels his principles are also a template - an owner’s manual - a guidebook - for (in particular) how to: (1) view life on earth; (2) work on the detail of one’s philosophy and worldview; and (3) examine and conduct a balanced, meaningful existence on this planet. The Holy Bible consists of 80 books (39 in the Old Hebrew part, 14 in the Apocrypha, and 27 in the New Christian part). Michael’s Principles (Volumes One and Two) each cover 84 chapters of the basic areas of life as he views them, with 21 chapters outlined each, for: (1) the mental; (3) the social; and (2) the material; (4) the spiritual areas of our lives. A detailed numbering system is in place for quick reference to topics. Each volume happens to come in at 613 entries, making a total of 1226 separate entries in the two books. By dictionary definition, a “principle” is defined as a “fundamental truth or proposition that serves as the foundation for a system of belief or behavior or for a chain of reasoning.” This is precisely why he chose “principles” in the title. His own personal philosophical principles are what he tries to practice daily. Michael even states they are likely the reason he is still with us in bodily form on the earth, and remains in (relative) possession of his right mind as well. Since leaving organized religion early on in life, these tenants, practiced in balance, have been what Michael has focused on for several decades. They work well for him. In the course of these pursuits, he says he has come to thousands of conclusions. And they all point to the balanced life. As he insists, for him, it is all about equivalent portions of mind (mental), body (material), relationships (social), and spirituality (God; the Universe). Basically, everything can be summed up within these four primary areas of life. Michael seems to never hesitate to conclude that he has found his own personal means of salvation in the midst of pursuing his balance of the Principles of Philosophy. - Tanya Walker (wife)
