I think that in theory that is a solid idea, but does it work? Still 45% of marriages end in divorce and the main reason why the divorce rate isn't higher is because people aren't getting married as much as they used to. In fact, millennial's aren't getting married like their parents' generation because many saw their parents' divorce and don't want to go through that. Many are opting to just date and be in committed relationships. Therefore, if committed relationships is the new married, then why not do pre-commitment counseling? This book was written to offer things to consider prior to commitment. When to Commit could have been helpful to people of all generations. It is also important for you to be ready to be in a committed relationship. It takes two to make a relationship work and we should wait on a soulmate to commit to. A commitment is a line of defense. It is a test run to see how things would be inside of a marriage. To gain information on how you will communicate, address issues, raise children, how you will live, earn income, prepare for emergencies and set up for retirement, etc. Getting it right the first time is critically important for us to live in purpose and not turmoil. More importantly getting it right the first time will benefit any children that you bring into this world.
