A handbook of help and hope when facing personal tragedy. When the storms of life blow in unexpectedly, wreaking havoc and leaving a trail of destruction, why does one person fall apart while another perseveres and even finds a deeper sense of purpose afterward? In Beyond the Storm, Debra Morton reveals why, providing the techniques and strategies that helped her and many others not only survive but also thrive, even in the most painful of circumstances. While ministering to victims of Hurricane Katrina and grieving the death of her granddaughter, Morton realized that the key to pushing forward in the midst of setbacks was having a defined set of coping skills. So she created the “Storm Playbook,” which teaches how to renew your hope, reclaim your passion, and experience fulfillment and joy again. That playbook is here for you to use immediately, along with interactive tools, journaling questions, and scripture studies that will guide you through pain and struggle and into strength and victory once again. Beyond the Storm is an essential help for flourishing after the devastating effects of life’s blows so you can actively pursue the purpose you were designed to fulfill.

When Storms Come written by Thomas E. Dow and has been published by Wipf and Stock Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-01-06 with Religion categories.

Tom Dow asserts that Job does not go through his trials to somehow improve him. He is being tried by Satan, who seeks to break Job's and God's trust in one another. When that trust survives the worst that Satan and insensitive friends can do, both Job and God are vindicated. When Storms Come shows how the book of Job can be related to New Testament teaching, and how it can be a great help to people experiencing suffering and stress. It also serves as a resource for people ministering to those going through the storms of life.

I was born in Brooklyn, New York. A child with no father. He passed away when I was one year old, but I went on with life. My mother has six kids. Yes, I was brought up in a group home till I was twelve, moved to Brooklyn to live with my biological mother, and have been with her ever since. Life was hard as a teenager. There were many drugs in my life, anger and resentment to all for the loss of my father, and the homelessness I had to endure. But God, amen, he called me to ministry service at the age of fourteen. I was brought up in the church but backslid for I wanted to live a life with women and drugs, so my nickname was Mr. Sex, Drugs, and Rock and Roll. This life turned me into a bad person with a good heart. I was strung out on crack cocaine and alcohol for three years; but God stepped in, took me out of the abandoned buildings I was sleeping in, and now gave me more than I ever had, because God saw my heart and saved me in 1995 at the Helping Hands Ministry under Pastor Randolph Ferdinand. There I learned how to pray in the spirit, how to believe in God to remove my hurt. There I heard God teach me his laws, and he told me what he wanted me to do. So I grew in the Lord with wisdom, finished the program, obtained a job, worked hard, got married, and became a pastor of the House of Prayer under Apostle Gladis Dugue. There I was blessed by God with a ministry, and I became a Sunday school teacher. I have my associates degree in management and my bachelors degree in science in religion, and I prayed, and God showed me the words in the Bible. He said, You must teach on every word in the Bible before you leave this earth. I began reading the words, and the Holy Spirit guided me into understanding the meaning of the words in the Bible for everyday life. None of the meanings are from the dictionaryall from God to me to you. I would like to thank my wife, Noreen Bridgeforth, who inspired me, my son; Apostle Dugue; Apostle Tyrone Monroe; and House of Prayer, an anointed new beginning where I teach Sunday school. I would like to thank my grandfather Willie Bridgeforth Sr. and my father, Robert, and my mother, Marie Bridgeforth. Thank you to all my family and friends at Helping Hands Ministry and Pastor Randolph Ferdinand.

Prayer is about having a personal relationship with God, meeting the King on a daily basis. God wants to be a part of your life. God has provided everything we need to walk through our journey with success. This journey through life is not about having sunshine every day; if we do not experience the difficult things in life, we will not learn how to appreciate the good and bad. When we are in a storm, we must learn how to ask God, “Why am I in this storm, and what is it that You want me to learn from it?” A spiritual storm is a trial, tragedy, or misfortune. The storms have a purpose in our lives, and when you stay on board, God will reveal the purpose at His timing. Storms can either make us or break us, depending on how we respond. Storms are considered a training process for God’s children. He uses the storms to shape us into who He wants us to be. Stay tuned to an amazing journey with God.

My family and I have experienced many challenges throughout our lives. Nevertheless, we trusted in Jesus, our refuge and strength in the times of our troubles. Regardless of the challenges or fiery darts that Satan threw at us, we never gave up. We encouraged ourselves and trust in God knowing that the battle is not ours but the Lord's. Sometimes we are confused when storms come thinking that bad things aren't supposed to happen to us once we have given our lives over to the Lord. However, storms come for different reasons; to clean and remove things that are dead, this may include people too, to make way for what is new. It is all in God's timing. Ecclesiastes lets us know that, "time is made available for things that are pleasant and unpleasant. A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away" (Ecclesiastes 3:6). M. Doctor continues to encourage the reader as they weather storms.
