Ronan Frost's White Peak is a fast-paced action thriller full of death-defying adventure. Greg Rask, a dying tech billionaire, has invested millions chasing miracle cures. None of them are worth a damn, but he refuses to give up. Now, he’s gathering a team willing to go to the ends of the earth chasing life. Each of Rask's crew has beaten incredible odds to rise from the ashes of their old lives to where they are now. Together, their next task is to retrieve a painting that is believed to hide a map which, if genuine, marks it as a treasure of the Ahnenerbe, the occult wing of the SS, who had devoted dozens of expeditions in search of the three cintamani stones for their combined properties, and the lost city where they were rumored to lay hidden: Shambhala. But a mystical brotherhood sworn to protect the secrets of the ancients—the same secrets that allow its members to defy death—will stop at nothing to ensure that Rask’s crew fail. In an adrenalin-pumping quest through some of the most savage terrains known to man, the crew will be pushed to the limits of endurance and beyond.

This guidebook to walking in the Peak District details 35 day walks and 7 longer trails in the eastern part of the White Peak, part of the Peak District National Park, Derbyshire. This volume includes walks near Bakewell, Matlock and Eyam, the plague village, as well as the Monsal Trail, Tissington Trail and White Peak Circular. Ranging between 4 and 12 miles in length and largely following well-marked paths over gentle landscapes, these walks are suitable for walkers of all abilities. Walking in the Peak District is enjoyable all year round although the famous limestone landscapes can be slippery in or after wet weather. Walks are illustrated with extracts of 1:50,000 OS mapping, while the longer walks and trails are covered by 1:100,000 scale mapping. Free GPX files available to aid navigation. Walkers can use the longer trails to link day walks into longer routes or explore the area on the three-day White Peak Circular, starting in Birchover. While geologically fascinating with its layers of limestone and gritstone, the White Peak is also a landscape rich in history and art. These walks visit sites including medieval churches, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Cromford Mill, and Eyam, a village devastated by plague in the 1660s. Out on the hills are stone circles and ancient sites such as the Neolithic burial site of Arbor Low.

"The late Sir John Betjamin said "There is every kind of scenery in Derbyshire - except the sea." But this was not always so; 350,000 years ago this area was covered by a warm and shallow inland tropical sea, the ancient remnants of which today form the central limestone dome of the White Peak. What characterises the White Peak is the rural tranquility, the sense of remoteness from urban civilisation, and the unique and ruggedly handsome character of its many wonderful villages. Situated in the Peak District National Park, the White Peak is a wonderland of breathtaking scenery, - a paradise for walkers, hikers and nature lovers alike. This book describes in detail the villages, trails and rivers that make the White Peak so special to the millions of visitors who come each year to the Peak District of Derbyshire, and creates a permanent record, fixing the area in history within the framework of the Millennium Year of AD 2000.
