The only true and unedited telling of the life of Christ—his life and times, in historical context, but not lacking the psychology behind his physical being and spirit. Unlike other books seeking to strip Jesus' story to reveal only the human being, Romano Guardini's The Lord gives the complete story of Jesus Christ—as man, Holy Ghost, and Creator. Pope Benedict XVI lauds Guardini's work as providing a full understanding of the Son of God, away from the prejudice that rationality engenders. Put long-held myths aside and discover the entire truth about God's only begotten Son.

The Name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe (Prov. 18:10). The Name of the Lord represents Who the Lord is. When Moses asked God His Name, so that if the Israelites asked him he would tell them, God said, "I AM WHO I AM...Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you'" (Exo. 3:14). He is Whom He is! He is the Omnipresent, Omnipotent, and Omniscient God. He is the Holy Lord God Almighty. He is the First and the Last, the Creator of every being and thing. And if you are in Him, you are safe; for His Name will be a shield over you. God will prove Himself strong on your behalf, because He will defend and protect His Name. Furthermore, He loves you enough to defend you.

“There is only one body and one spirit even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God, and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in you all” (Ephesians 4:4–6). There is only one true, living God, the God that made heaven and earth. There is only one church, the body of Christ, which is a body of believers in Christ through the gospel. There is one faith, Christianity. “Jesus saith unto him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by me” (John 14:6). Jesus is not a way, but the way, he is the door to eternal life. “Neither is there salvation in any other for there is none name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). Jesus Christ is the savior of the world, the redeemer, God in human flesh. “‘Ye are my witness,’ saith the Lord, ‘and my servant whom I have chosen that ye may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me, there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the Lord, and beside me there is no savior. I have declared and have saved, and I have shown when there was no strange god among you. Therefore, ye are my witnesses,’ saith the Lord, ‘that I am God’” (Isaiah 43:10–12). “‘Thus,’ saith the Lord, the king of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts, ‘I am the first, and I am the last, and beside me there is no God’” (Isaiah 44:6). The true and living God must be able to redeem his follower from sin or he’s not God because there is nothing too hard for God. For God to forgive your sin, something or someone must die in your place and atone for your sin by his blood. “Because without the shedding of blood is no forgiveness of sin” (Hebrews 9:22). Once you believe the gospel of Jesus Christ, the blood of Jesus cleanses your sin, then God forgives your sin. God cannot forgive your sins until it is cleansed by the blood of Jesus. “‘I am alpha and omega, the beginning and the end,’ saith the Lord, ‘which is and which was and which is to come.’” The Almighty Jesus Christ is saying that he is Almighty God in the flesh, our redeemer. No one can forgive and redeem you from your sin but God Almighty. You cannot work off sin, it must be redeemed, and the redeemer must be sinless because a sinner cannot redeem another sinner.

The Lord Jesus Christ, Who is our Saviour and Master, is the King of kings and Lord of lords. He is God, and the Father created all things through Him. All things were created by Him, through Him, and for Him, and in Him all things consist. He was before all things in the beginning. Though He was in the Form of God, He took the form of man, suffered, and died for men, so as to make peace between God and men. And having obeyed God to the point of death, God resurrected Him, and gave Him a Place at the right hand of His Throne, from where He will come to judge the whole world.

This book contains commentary on each book in the first half of the Bible (the first half meaning literally: Genesis through Psalms). I tried to cohesively write about each topic I came upon in an appropriate section of the book. In the Table of Contents page, you can see that this book is organized by the books of the Bible with Subsections usually being important divisions within that book or when I wanted to tie in concepts from other parts of the Bible. The primary goal was to flesh out full and complete thoughts whenever I came upon a new idea. For example, if you have a full understanding of the Law, but lack understanding of Grace, then that would not be a complete thought, accurately portraying who God is. These notes should be useful for anyone who wishes to read through the "highlights" of the Bible in a quick, easy, and organized way.

Do We Seek to Know the True Nature of God? Sometimes we view God through the lens of a consumer: What can God do for me? Sometimes we create our own versions of God based upon what makes sense to us in light of our experiences. Regardless of good intentions, if we focus on the LORD's characteristics that we enjoy while neglecting attributes of God that are difficult to understand or believe, we fabricate and worship false images of God Almighty and bow down to idols of our own making. Thankfully, due to His unending grace, the LORD has revealed Himself to mankind through His inspired Scripture and Jesus, who is the Word made flesh (John 1:14) - the exact representation of the Father (Col. 1:15). As we study the God of the Bible, we come to know Him rather than an idol. As we find God and meditate upon His nature, He cultivates love within our hearts for Himself. YHWH, The LORD, is not designed to be a self-help, human-centered, life-application Bible study; rather, the entire focus is upon the person of YHWH and unearthing truths about His uncreated, unchanging, inexhaustible, self-sustaining, personal, and eternal attributes. Join author Laura Ackley as she leads readers through an in-depth Bible study that focuses on Scripture passages surrounding ten different names ascribed to the LORD throughout the Old Testament. If it is your desire to know the LORD, He promises, "You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart" (Jer. 29:13). Seek Him, find Him, and grow in your love for the LORD.

All The Names Of The Lord written by Valentina Izmirlieva and has been published by University of Chicago Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-09-15 with Religion categories.

Christians face a conundrum when it comes to naming God, for if God is unnamable, as theologians maintain, he can also be called by every name. His proper name is thus an open-ended, all-encompassing list, a mystery the Church embraces in its rhetoric, but which many Christians have found difficult to accept. To explore this conflict, Valentina Izmirlieva examines two lists of God’s names: one from The Divine Names, the classic treatise by Pseudo-Dionysius, and the other from The 72 Names of the Lord, an amulet whose history binds together Kabbalah and Christianity, Jews and Slavs, Palestine, Provence, and the Balkans. This unexpected juxtaposition of a theological treatise and a magical amulet allows Izmirlieva to reveal lists’ rhetorical potential to create order and to function as both tools of knowledge and of power. Despite the two different visions of order represented by each list, Izmirlieva finds that their uses in Christian practice point to a complementary relationship between the existential need for God’s protection and the metaphysical desire to submit to his infinite majesty—a compelling claim sure to provoke discussion among scholars in many fields.
