The content explores various perspectives within Christianity that seek to reconcile the belief in God's creative role with the scientific understanding of evolution. It highlights how some Christians interpret the Bible metaphorically, allowing for compatibility with evolutionary principles. Others see evolution as a mechanism through which God designed and continues to shape life on Earth. Some view creation as a gradual process rather than a literal six-day event, finding harmony with the gradual development proposed by evolution. The concept of free will is discussed, suggesting that evolutionary processes can be seen as a way God granted creatures the freedom to adapt and develop within the natural world. Many Christians appreciate the scientific method and see evolution as a scientific explanation that doesn't negate God's role but rather unveils the mechanisms. The unique spiritual nature of humans, as described in Christian theology, is emphasized by arguing that evolution explains physical aspects without diminishing human exceptionalism. Notable Christian theologians, including Pope Francis, are mentioned to have expressed compatibility between evolution and Christianity, encouraging a harmonious understanding. Acceptance of evolution is also tied to the principle of environmental stewardship, emphasizing the importance of caring for the Earth as part of the Christian responsibility of stewardship over God's creation. The non-literal interpretation of Genesis is explored, suggesting that the Genesis account doesn't necessarily demand a literal interpretation, allowing for compatibility with evolutionary timelines. Theological emphasis on purpose is discussed, asserting that evolution may be the method through which God achieves His purpose. The ongoing creation perspective is highlighted, aligning with the idea that God continually sustains and interacts with the world, even through evolutionary mechanisms. The theological emphasis on purpose is explored, suggesting that evolution could be the means through which God achieves His purpose. The content also discusses the harmony of faith and reason, emphasizing that embracing evolution can be seen as an acknowledgment of the compatibility between faith and scientific insights. Theological flexibility is highlighted, showcasing Christianity's historical adaptation to scientific advancements, with some arguing that embracing evolution is a way to integrate contemporary scientific understanding into religious thought. The focus on core doctrines is explored, suggesting that some Christians prioritize fundamental theological beliefs over specific interpretations of the creation account, allowing for room for evolutionary perspectives. The concept of unity in diversity is discussed, emphasizing how evolution's emphasis on interconnectedness and diversity resonates with Christian teachings about the unity of all creation under God. The acknowledgment of the mystery of God's work is explored, indicating that recognizing the complexity of God's creation leads some Christians to view evolution as a mechanism that reflects the mysterious and profound nature of God's creative power. Finally, theistic evolution is discussed, highlighting the perspective that God guided the evolutionary process, aligning with Christian beliefs in a purposeful creation.

All of these statements are false: Christians are science-deniers when it comes to evolution. Real science actually lines up more with evolution than creation as found in Genesis. Fossils are evidence for evolution. The Genesis account is fully compatible with evolution. These questions need answers! What exactly is the difference between evolution right and evolution wrong? Is it possible to bend Genesis to fit evolution? How can one defend belief in a six-day creation from the onslaughts of the evolutionists? How about any questions you have? In the April edition 2019 of the magazine Christianity Today I saw charts that gave the percentage of Christians who believe in some form of evolution. I was surprised. I wrote this book to answer question that I think Christians should ask. The book's title is Christians and Evolution. The subtitle is: Most Christians Think Evolution and Christianity are Compatible. What Did Jesus, Paul, Peter and John Say? What Does the Fine-tuning of the Universe Say? I used the word "most" because 75% of Christians in the US believe in evolution. 58% said God had a role in the evolution and 17% said God had no role. I projected the US statistic world wide. What did Jesus say and believe? We know Jesus believed in the Genesis account of creation because when he was asked about divorce, he went to the creation story. He quoted from Genesis 1:27 and said, Haven't you read, that at the beginning the Creator made them male and female. Then he said, For this reason a man will leave his father and mother, and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. . .Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate. Matthew 19:4-6 He was quoting from Genesis 2:24. He used that first marriage which was between Adam and Eve as the example that sets precedence for all other marriages. It is obvious that Jesus believed in creation. He never said anything about evolutionist. We also know Jesus believed in the Genesis account of creation because he spoke about Abel. Abel was Adam and Eve's second son. Jesus mentioned Abel because he was the first martyr. He was killed by his older brother Cain. So Jesus believed that the first biblical family was made up of Adam and Eve and Cain and Abel. Later Seth and more children were born. Jesus never said, Adam was the first person in the long line of evolution that looked more like a man than a gorilla. It is obvious that people who believe in evolution and call themselves Christians are not paying attention to what Jesus thought and taught? I would hate to stand before Jesus at the judgment day and have him accuse me and say, Bob, you unwittingly called me an ignorant liar by saying things that are opposite to what I said. What did Paul say? Paul said in Romans 5:12 that sin and death entered the world through one man. He named Adam twice as that one man. He said, One man, Adam, brought condemnation. One man, Jesus Christ, brought justification. 5:16 It is obvious that the Apostle Paul believed the Genesis account of creation and the fall of mankind through the sin of Adam and the salvation of mankind through Jesus Christ. What did Peter say? In 1 Peter 1:19, 20 he said, Christ was chosen before the creation of the world to redeem us with his precious blood. John starts his Gospel with "In the beginning." just like Genesis 1:1 starts the Bible. He said about Jesus Christ, "Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made." 1:3 So John believes in creation. He believes Jesus Christ was the Creator. Does he say anything about evolution? No. I think evolution would have been a very strange concept to him. Nowhere in the Bible is evolution mentioned. Evolutionist make wild guesses using millions and billions of years. Creationist have the Bible. It has genealogies going back to Adam so we know where we came from. Genesis 5 gives the names of the fathers and how old the fathers were when the sons were born. If we add up those dates we know that it was 1,658 years from the creation of Adam to the flood in Noah's time. In Genesis 11 we have another genealogy with dates. If we add those dates we get 260 years. The total years from the creation of Adam to the birth of Abraham is 1,918 years. We have a written account of where and when we started. I wrote about the fine-tuning of the universe. There are at least 200 places where the Universe is fine-tuned. The fine-tuning indicates a designer- God.

God or Darwin? It is one of the most contentious conflicts of our time. It is also completely unnecessary, according to Joel W. Martin, an evolutionary biologist and ordained elder in the Presbyterian Church USA. In this slim but powerful book, Martin argues that it is not contradictory to be a practicing, faithful Christian who accepts the science of evolution. Martin finds that much of the controversy in the United States over evolution is manufactured and predicated on a complete—and sometimes willful—misapprehension of basic science. Science and religion, he says, serve different purposes and each seeks to answer questions that the other need never address. He believes that many of the polarizing debates about evolution distract from the deeper lessons of Christianity and that literal, fundamentalist readings of the Bible require the faithful to reject not just evolution but many of science's greatest discoveries. Just as the scientific explanation of rainbows is not meant to refute the biblical "rainbow" story of God’s promise, evolutionary theory is not a ploy to disavow the divine. Indeed, Martin shows that the majority of Christians worldwide accept the theory of evolution. He urges his fellow Christians to refuse to participate in the intellectually stifling debate over evolution and creationism/intelligent design.

Discovering God And His Creation written by Carl R. Turner M. D. and has been published by iUniverse this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-10 with Religion categories.

Is there evidence for the existence of God? Is evolution true and if so, is evolution compatible with Christianity? These questions face not only students each year but also our modern society as a whole. The answers to these questions are important because they will determine our understanding of nature and our relationship with God. Dr. Turner in his book, Discovering God and His Creation, focuses on these two questions. He tells of his lifelong journey in the worlds of faith, science and evolution and what he has discovered as he searched for answers. He outlines the overwhelming evidence for both the existence of God and evolution and explains how nature cannot be understood without evolution. He reveals that the solution to the faith and science dilemma lies in a deeper understanding of the Christian belief that God is a father. Dr. Turner's journey began with the influence of a father and, after completion of graduate studies in evolutionary biology and medical school, ended with his realization that evolution is more compatible with Christianity than any other explanation for nature. The reasons behind Dr. Turner's conclusion are enlightening and will provide a long sought for answer to the standoff between faith and science.

Click here to visit evolutionandchristianfaith.org "I'm an evolutionary biologist and a Christian," states Stanford professor Joan Roughgarden at the outset of her groundbreaking new book, Evolution and Christian Faith: Reflections of an Evolutionary Biologist. From that perspective, she offers an elegant, deeply satisfying reconciliation of the theory of evolution and the wisdom of the Bible. Perhaps only someone with Roughgarden's unique academic standing could examine so well controversial issues such as the teaching of intelligent design in public schools, or the potential flaws in Darwin's theory of evolution. Certainly Roughgarden is uniquely suited to reference both the minutiae of scientific processes and the implication of Biblical verses. Whether the topic is mutation rates and lizards or the hidden meanings behind St. Paul's letters, Evolution and Christian Faith distils complex arguments into everyday understanding. Roughgarden has scoured the Bible and scanned the natural world, finding examples time and again, not of conflict, but of harmony. The result is an accessible and intelligent context for a Christian vision of the world that embraces science. In the ongoing debates over creationism and evolution, Evolution and Christian Faith will be seen as a work of major significance, written for contemporary readers who wonder how-or if-they can embrace scientific advances while maintaining their traditional values.
