Do not be deceived to think that having intellectual knowledge or even religious or theological education is a guarantee that you un-derstand spiritual things or that you will be able to walk in the realms of the supernatural. I have been convinced from experience with myself and other humans, that humans do not believe a spir-itual truth unless they have experienced it firsthand or become very close observers of the spiritual experience themselves.I also want to let you know that it is foolishness to mock what you do not understand, especially spiritual issues. I have had people misjudge and misinterpret spiritual matters to their own detriment. Speaking in tongues is not a matter to be left unraveled. However, the secret to tongues is no secret at all. In fact, God is not a secret to be kept private.Speaking in tongue(s) is a supernatural ability that is released on the believer through the supernatural gifting of the Holy Spirit of God and gives the believer access to the spirit realm by speaking a supernatural language that we have not been schooled in. However, there have been exceptional cases where people who had had a pri-vate encounter with Jesus but without a public declaration of their new-found faith, they found themselves walked into a charged spir-itual atmosphere where other mature believers were praying, and they were intercepted by the Holy Spirit and they spoke in tongues. The Holy Spirit walks in different ways and in different manifesta-tion.In the realms of the spirit there are growth and maturity levels to be attained and for every level we enter into, we hit a new level of portals opening up unto us and this too manifests in the levels of our spiritual tongues. Too many people do not really pray in tongues, they pray only in human languages of their understanding, because they do not understand the benefits of speaking and pray-ing in tongues. I put it therefore before you that you will pray more in the spirit if you truly understand what praying in tongues will do for you.

Often times we play around with many words as we use them in our day to day communications and other activities, but there comes a time when these words are forged together to make a certain statement, and when such a statement comes alive, it creates a feeling of shock and awe, resulting to a sense of deep satisfaction, we marvel and even feel like we have never heard anything like that before. Such was the feeling that greeted me when God formed the inspiration for this book upon the tablets of my mind. There are certain questions you have always pondered upon while considering the subject of speaking in tongues. A number of them highlighted below:* Why did God decide that we Christians, should pray with other tongues? * Have you ever wondered the operations that go on spiritually on account of our prayer in tongues? * What are the realities and facts that distinguish praying in tongues from praying normally? * How much are we able to achieve within a short while when we pray in tongues? Ever wondered what is the best mode of prayer? * Is it possible that Satan can block the answers to our prayers from reaching us? * Why was the answer to Daniel's prayers delayed by the Prince of Persia? * How can our prayers address the things that we do not have knowledge of? The Unseen Dynamics of Praying in Tongues reveals all these mysteries and much more as you read through. The book does not focus on defining speaking in tongues nor does it teach how to speak in tongues. It does, however, focus on the spiritual activities that are pioneered in the spirit when you pray in tongues, highlighting also the analysis and technical aspects of speaking in tongues. This book is arguably the most revealing and concise book you have ever read that gives deep details into the invisible happenings and manifestations around Christians when they pray in tongues.

The past several decades have seen a renaissance in Christian philosophy, led by the work of Alvin Plantinga, Nicholas Wolterstorff, William Alston, Eleonore Stump, and others. In the spirit of Plantinga s famous manifesto, Advice to Christian Philosophers, James K. A. Smith here offers not only advice to Pentecostal philosophers but also some Pentecostal advice to Christian philosophers. In this inaugural Pentecostal Manifestos volume Smith begins from the conviction that implicit in Pentecostal and charismatic spirituality is a tacit worldview or social imaginary. Thinking in Tongues unpacks and articulates the key elements of this Pentecostal worldview and then explores their implications for philosophical reflection on ontology, epistemology, aesthetics, language, science, and philosophy of religion. In each case, Smith demonstrates how the implicit wisdom of Pentecostal spirituality makes unique contributions to current conversations in Christian philosophy.

Almost 40 years ago John and Elizabeth Sherill introduced the world to the phenomenon of 'speaking in tongues' in their book, They Speak with Other Tongues. The book was an immediate success as thousands were touched by the power of this spiritual gift. The Hidden Power of Speaking in Tongues again explores this spiritual experience powerfully prevalent in the early church. This much maligned and controversial gift was a practical part of their worship and intercession and seeks to be rediscovered in our day. In a day of spiritual poverty, Chavda challenges the Body of Christ to experience afresh the secret dynamic of 'speaking in tongues', as he removes the veil covering this glorious gift.

Have you ever wondered why your prayer language doesn’t sound like real words? And why is it so repetitive? Why does it usually start with the same few words or syllables? Maybe you’ve asked those questions at times. We’ve asked the same questions—and quite a few others—regarding the gifts of tongues and interpretation of tongues. Then we sought the Lord for understanding of these gifts and did our best to operate in them faithfully. He gave us many insights and answers, and then brought it all together in a book. That was something we never really planned. It just sort of happened. We aren’t megachurch pastors. We don’t lead multi-national ministries. But we did have a calling from the Lord to write a book and spread a message. What exactly is that message? Speaking in tongues and interpreting tongues are powerful gifts with practical use for everyday people like us. When people operate in these gifts, God blesses the person operating in the gift, but He also blesses the people around them. Other Questions We Explore in the Book: What does speaking in tongues feel like emotionally? What is the purpose of speaking in tongues? What are the benefits? How does the gift of interpretation work? Are biblical tongues earthly languages, or heavenly languages? Or both? We invite you to explore these questions with us, as you read through our book. Speaking in tongues (glossolalia) is a common spiritual phenomenon in the Pentecostal and Charismatic streams of the Christian church. Such Christians believe that when they speak in tongues they are communicating with God in a language that they have never learned--spiritual prayer language given to them by the Holy Spirit. This innovative volume seeks to enhance our understanding and appreciation of glossolalia by examining it from a range of different angles. Christian scholars from diverse academic disciplines bring to bear the insights of their own specialist areas to shed new light on the practice of speaking in tongues. The disciplines include: New Testament Studies--Max Turner Theology--Frank D. Macchia History--Neil Hudson Philosophy--James K. A. Smith Linguistics--David Hilborn Sociology--Margaret M. Poloma Psychology--William K. Kay A final chapter by Mark J. Cartledge seeks to show how all of these perspectives can work together and enrich a Christian appreciation of the gift of tongues.

There are few other topics on which Christians are so divided. And a large majority of believers are unclear about what spiritual language really means. This is a balanced, biblical approach for anyone wanting to make an honest inquiry into the nature of speaking in tongues. Hayford debunks common myths surrounding the practice of tongues and shares with readers the beauty and the order of spiritual language that he has discovered during his times of private communion with God.
