In dem Roman geht es hauptsächlich um Aleksandars Erinnerungen und Traumata, die in den 90er Jahren während und nach der Kriegszeit im Balkan entstehen. Der Autor verpackt die Erzählung sprachlich so, dass sie für mehrere Zielgruppen interessant sein könnte. Stanišićs moderner Schreibstil kann nicht nur für Liebhaber der Trümmerliteratur, die sich mehr Poesie wünschen, attraktiv sein, sondern auch für Jugendliche im 21. Jahrhundert, die durch die Digitalisierung kontinuierlich neue Wörter in ihr Vokabular aufnehmen. Laut Maček werden die negativen Seiten des Balkans oft automatisch der osmanischen Herrschaft zugeschrieben. Davon ist in Stanišićs Roman allerdings nichts zu spüren. In seinem Werk sind kaum hasserfüllte Vorstellungen gegenüber anderen Völkern/Menschen zu beobachten, obwohl der Inhalt hauptsächlich von grausamen Kriegserfahrungen handelt. Die Erinnerungen und Kommentare stammen aus gutmütiger Perspektive und es sind nur wenige Szenen vorhanden, in denen Feindlichkeit zum Ausdruck gebracht wird. All die Erinnerungen und Traumata schmückt der Autor mit dem Einsatz von zahlreichen literarischen Mitteln, sodass der Inhalt für die Leser*innen ansprechender ist. Diese Arbeit untersucht, wie aus den Wunden des Protagonisten Wörter werden. Es geht um die Frage, wie Stanišić traumatische Ereignisse und den Umgang der Protagonisten mit solchen anhand von literarischen Mitteln in "Wie der Soldat das Grammofon repariert" inszeniert.
