Living Languages is simply bursting with practical and original ideas aimed at teachers and trainee teachers of foreign languages in secondary schools. Each project is explored from the teachers’ perspective with practical tips, lesson plans and reflections woven throughout the text such as what to budget, how to organise the pre-event period, how to evaluate the activity and whom to contact for further advice in each case. Activities and examples throughout are given in three languages – French, German and Spanish.

This is the first large scale study on the link between the concepts of intellect and grace in the writings of St. Augustine of Hippo. Its five chapters deal with Augustine's writings on grace as they focus on questions concerning epistemology and hermeneutics. Already non-Christian ancient philosophers identified intellectual perfection with salvation as caused by divine grace. Under their influence (I) Augustine developed also his biblical thought (II). The culmination of his concept of intellectus gratiae, however, came in the later works on sacraments (III), hermeneutics (IV) and against Pelagius and Julian of Eclanum (V). This study highlights that development and recommends the concept of intellectus gratiae as a possible key to Augustine's theological thought as a whole.

A new 2023 translation into American English from the original manuscript of Nietzsche's 1882 "Die fröhliche Wissenschaft". This is sometimes translated as "The Gay Science" or "The Happy Science" or "The Joyful Wisdom". This is volume 5 in The Complete Works of Friedrich Nietzsche from Newcomb Livraria Press. This chronological, systematic set of Nietzsche's works is the first ever bilingual "Hauptwerke" or complete major works of Nietzsche published in English & the original German. The Joyful Science is perhaps his clearest explanation of his Epistemology in relation to his entire philosophic project. Here he writes about the Tautology of Anti-Metaphysical positions, for the very impetuous of them is rooted in Metaphysical assumptions (namely, that objective truth matters at all). Nietzsche’s megalomania begins to bloom in the Joyful Science, taking full form in The Twilight of the Idols. He continues his philosophy of negation and takes on every figure of western philosophy individually, and sometimes in pairs and groups. Christianity, he calls “a permanent suicide of reason” but also for the first time he talks about how the very preoccupation with truth has it’s origin in the “peasant morality” of Christianity.
