Excerpt from Wiener Entomologische Monatschrift, 1859, Vol. 3 Nach seinen Erfahrungen 'zeigt sich nemlich zwischen den ver dickten Hinterschenkeln und dem Springvermögen kein be'ständiges, nothwendiges' Verhaltniss, so zwar, dass die Fähigkeit zum Springen nicht immer mit der Stärke der Anschwellung Hand in Hand gehe und umgekehrt diese nicht jene bedinge. Ihm ist daher das Springvermögen eine Eigenschaft von nur untergeordneter Bedeutung für die Systematik, eine Nebenvernchtung, welche in jeder möglichen Organisationsweise vorkommen könne, wenn sie sich in der Mitwirkung der Hinterbeine äussert. Er tritt nicht allein der Ansicht Spinola's entgegen, welcher ihr die Bedeutung eines familien-charakters beilegte, sondern er will ihr nicht einmal einen unbedingt generisch'en Charakter eim*äumen, und würde in diesem Sinne keinen Anstand nehmen, in ein unil dasselbe Genus Arten zu vereinigen, ohne Rücksicht des Vorhanden oder nicht Nichtvorhandenseinsdieser Eigenschaft. Excerpt from Wiener Entomologische Monatschrift, Vol. 1: Juli 1857 Ganz und gar blassgelb. Augen auf der Stirne fast vollstandig zusammenstossend. Stirn, die Seiten des Untergesichts und der Hinter kopf aschgrau, wenn die weisse Bestäubung abgerieben ist, schwarz grau; der grösste Theil der mittlern \wölbung des Untergesichts der Rüssel, die Taster und die Fühler blassgelb die Fühlerbbrste an der Wurzel blassgelb sonst braun. Backenbart und die Behaarung der Taster weisslich; die Behaarung des Rüssels wenig dunkler. Auf der Mitte der Oberseite des Thorax zieht die Färbung in das Schmutzig bräunliche; die Seiten desselben und die Hüften sind ganz und gar weissgelblich. Die Behaarung auf der Oberseite des Thorax ist kurz und sparsam, vorn und an den Seiten vorherrschend gelblich weiss, über der Flügelwurzel und vor dem Schildchen ineist schwarz. An den Brustseiten und Hüften ist sie weissgelblich, doch stehen an der Spitze der Hüften einige schwarze Haare. Der blassgelbe Schenkelknopf aller Beine hat an seinem Ende auf der Innenseite einen kleinen schwarzen Fleck. Das gelbliche Schildchen ist zuweilen an seiner Basis etwas gebräunt die Behaarung desselben ist sparsam, schwarz mit unter mengten hellen Härchen. Der Hinterleib hat auf seiner Mittellinie eine aus schmalen Längsflecken gebildete, an den Einschnitten mehr oder weniger unterbrochene schwarze Strieme; jederseits am Seitenrande desselben findet sich eine ähnliche schmälere und weniger unterbrochene schwarze Fleckenstrieme. Zuweilen erweitern sich die schwarzen Flecke der Mittelstrierne auf der Mitte der Ringe ein wenig und auf dem 7. Ringe zeigen sich entweder gleich neben dem Mittelflecke zwei ähnliche, wenige1 scharf begrenzte Flecke, oder die Schwa1 zung erst1eckt sich meh1 bindena1tig am ganzen Vorde11ande desselben hin. Bauch ganz gelb, nur der letzte Abschnitt in grosserer oder geringerer Aus dehnung dunkelbraun. Die Analanhänge sind gelb. Die Behaarung des Hinterleibs ist schwarz, nur an der Vorderhälfte des Bauchs gelblich Weiss. Beine schmutzig gelb; die Farbe der Schienen, besonders der hintersten geht allmälig in das Braune über.
