Inhaltsangabe:Einleitung: Der immer stärker ansteigende Anteil von Freizeit an unserer Lebenszeit lässt auch neue und veränderte Bedürfnisse und Nutzungsformen entstehen. Die heutige mobile Freizeitgesellschaft stellt andere Ansprüche an Qualität und Umfang der Angebote als noch vor ein oder zwei Jahrzehnten. Freizeitbäder kamen in 70er Jahren auf, erlebten in den 80ern ihre Spiel- und Experimentierphase und wurden in den 90ern erwachsen . Das Badsterben der kommunalen Schwimmhallen und das Aufkommen neuer privater Anbieter scheinen zusammenzuhängen. Obgleich der Anteil der Freizeitbäder an der gesamten Bäderlandschaft gerade mal 5,1% ausmacht, tragen sie zu einem Drittel zum Gesamtumsatz aller Bäder bei. Bereits diese wenigen Zahlen belegen den bedeutenden Stellenwert solcher Anlagen. Die Bäderlandschaft in Deutschland ist geprägt durch einen hohen Subventionsanteil der öffentlichen Hand. In Zeiten von gedämpfter wirtschaftlicher Entwicklung und stagnierenden Steuereinnahmen sind viele Schwimmbäder ebenso wie andere Sozial- und Bildungseinrichtungen (Theater, Bibliotheken, Volkshochschulen, zoologische Gärten usf.) von Sparmaßnahmen und Schließungen bedroht. Auch privat betriebene Bäder sind nicht per se eine Erfolgslösung. Was sind also die Entwicklungen der letzten Jahre im Bäderwesen hinsichtlich der Angebotsstruktur gewesen und worauf müssen Bad-Betreiber achten, um auch in Zukunft den Zuspruch der Kundschaft nicht zu verlieren? Problemstellung: Die Badelandschaft in Deutschland hat in den vergangenen Jahrzehnten ein deutliche Verschiebung der Nachfrage erfahren. Die notwendigen Strukturanpassungen auf der Angebotsseite verliefen aufgrund der behördenähnlichen Eigenarten der meist kommunalen Anbieter eher schleppend. Private Unternehmen nutzten die Chance, sich im Markt mit neuen kundenorientierten erlebnisoptimierten Bäderangeboten zu positionieren. Der Wettbewerbsdruck hat für alle Anbieter, gleich ob kommunal oder privatwirtschaftlich, erheblich zugenommen. Welche Angebote sind heute nötig, um dem Publikum ein Bad zu bieten, das es annimmt?
