Inhaltsangabe:Zusammenfassung: Vor allem im Zusammenhang mit der Schutzgebietskategorie ‚Nationalpark’ taucht in der aktuellen Naturschutzdiskussion immer wieder der Begriff ‚Wildnis‘ auf. In bestimmten Gebieten soll die Natur sich selbst überlassen werden und ‚verwildern‘. ‚Natürliche Dynamik‘ und ‚Prozessschutz‘ sind mittlerweile zu international anerkannten Naturschutzzielen geworden. In der praktischen Umsetzung erweisen sie sich jedoch oft als problematisch, z.B. wenn es darum geht, Nutzungseinschränkungen gegenüber den jeweils Betroffenen zu rechtfertigen oder zu definieren, welche Eingriffe in einem Gebiet zulässig oder sogar notwendig sind. Ziel meiner Arbeit ist es, den Wildnisbegriff in seiner Entwicklung und Funktion zu untersuchen und auf dieser Grundlage die Möglichkeit einer ethischen Legitimation der mit Schutzbestimmungen einhergehenden Einschränkungen zu diskutieren. Im Zuge dessen wird im ersten Teil der Arbeit zunächst ein Bezug zwischen dem Begriff ‚Wildnis‘ und verschiedenen Auffassungen von Natur hergestellt. Ein kurzer Überblick über die Entwicklung des Begriffs ‚Natur‘ von der Antike bis in die Gegenwart zeigt ideengeschichtliche Zusammenhänge auf, die für einen Wandel in der Wildnisbewertung maßgeblich waren. Bedeutende Stationen dieses Wandels von einer tendenziell eher negativen zu einer vermehrt positiven Vorstellung von Wildnis werden nachvollzogen. Eine nähere Bestimmung des Begriffs setzt sich anschließend mit der für Wildnis geforderten Ursprünglichkeit und der Rolle, die dem Menschen ihr gegenüber zukommt, auseinander. In diesem Rahmen werden die gegenwärtig geltenden internationalen Richtlinien für Wildnisschutz vorgestellt. Der darauffolgende Abschnitt befasst sich mit Kritikpunkten, denen der Wildnisbegriff in Bezug auf seine Konzeption und praktische Umsetzung ausgesetzt ist. Im zweiten Teil der Arbeit geht es um die Frage der ethischen Legitimation von Wildnisschutz. Als Argumentationsbasis wird nach einer kurzen Übersicht über die Grundpositionen der ökologischen Ethik zunächst eine anthropozentrische Position gewählt. Es folgt eine Darstellung und Auswertung verschiedener anthropozentrischer Argumente, die sich auf den instrumentellen und/oder den Eigenwert von Wildnis beziehen. Zwei Fallbeispiele, in denen im Zusammenhang mit Wildnis konkret aufgetretene Konfliktsituationen vorgestellt und anhand eines Schemas ethischer Urteilsfindung analysiert werden, runden die Arbeit ab.
