Forcing herself to hide her unearthly qualities from the world (with the help of a magical jewel that she wears around her neck), Heather tries to live a life as close to her concept of normal as she possibly can. That all begins to change when she transfers to Sael Academy. The sudden sinking of the Heinden Ferry was the first of many strange occurrences that befall Heather on her new life on the island of Sael. After that, she befriends some of the oddest people she's ever met: Kevin Nivek, the ex-fighter, turned peace-lover; Natalie Willows, the absent-minded genius inventor; Sarah Douglas, the hopeless gossip and desperate journalist; Keith, the mysterious guitarist who guides her path; and Kotone Konnoe, whose physical uniqueness rivals Heather's. In part one of Wings of Eternity, Heather attempts to establish her life in Sael. Driven to desperation from her responsibility to take care of her younger brother, Jeremy, she finds her morals challenged by accepting a despicable occupation as an entertainer at a gentlemen's club. All of her anxiety and fear grows and comes to a head when it becomes known that her amazing vocal prowess can effect the delicate emotions of man and she becomes targeted by those who seek that level of power. Part two involves Heather's attempt to rebuild a life shattered by human greed. However, with the new knowledge of her ultimate destiny and the ominous threat of a tragedy beyond her imagining, she can never be the same. Desperately, Heather searches for a little bit of hope in the darkness that is surrounding her life; hope that comes in the form of an innocent little girl, Nickie Glass. Nickie gives Heather the inspiration she needs to start being what she needs to be. Finally, in part three, Heather begins to accept what she is and learns to control her great power. It would seem as though life was looking up for this beautiful angel until, one-by-one, those close to her heart are taken from her. While this dreadful plot against her is in action, Heather finds herself battling with her own heart, trying desperately not to let anyone else in, lest they should be taken away as well. However, it's too late, as Heather's heart finally realizes who it wants. The book comes to a climax with the dawn of a war that shakes the foundations of a world shrouded in darkness and Heather's race to complete her ultimate task before the last thing she holds dear in the world is stolen from her.
