Here's a book that will please adults as much as children. Ava Roulier's imagination rivals even an advanced poet's point of view. Marvel at her jumps in thought-somewhere between surreal and strange and all so very original. You will be charmed. You will be challenged to think. Or, you may just laugh yourself silly. Dr. David B. Axelrod, Fulbright Poet and Laureate Taylor and Seale Publishing is happy to introduce readers to Ava Roulier's highly imaginative world in which she manipulates words that sometimes conjure up surprisingly in-depth images. Ava Roulier's debut book of poetry is a delight. Dr. Mary Custureri, President, Taylor and Seale Publishing, LLC

Elements Of Structural Syntax written by Lucien Tesnière and has been published by John Benjamins Publishing Company this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-02-11 with Language Arts & Disciplines categories.

This volume appears now finally in English, sixty years after the death of its author, Lucien Tesnière. It has been translated from the French original into German, Spanish, Italian, and Russian, and now at long last into English as well. The volume contains a comprehensive approach to the syntax of natural languages, an approach that is foundational for an entire stream in the modern study of syntax and grammar. This stream is known today as dependency grammar (DG). Drawing examples from dozens of languages, many of which he was proficient in, Tesnière presents insightful analyses of numerous phenomena of syntax. Among the highlights are the concepts of valency and head-initial vs. head-final languages. These concepts are now taken for granted by most modern theories of syntax, even by phrase structure grammars, which represent, in a sense, the opposite sort of approach to syntax from what Tesnière was advocating. Transformative Language Arts, an emerging field and profession, calls on us to use writing, storytelling, theater, music, expressive and other arts for social change, personal growth, and culture shift. In this landmark anthology, Transformative Language Artists share their stories, scholarship and practices for a more just and peaceful world, from a Hmong storyteller and spoken word artist weaving traditions with contemporary immigrant challenges in Philadelphia, to a playwright raising awareness of AIDS/HIV prevention. Read the stories, consider the questions raised, and find inspiration and tools in using words as a vehicle for transformation through essays on the challenge of dominant stories, public housing women writing for their lives, histories and communities at the margins, singing as political action, the convergence of theology and poetics, women's self-leadership, embodied writing, and healing the self, others, and nature through TLA. The anthology also includes “snapshots,” short features on transformative language artists who make their livings and lives working with people of all ages and backgrounds to speak their truths, and change their communities.

The World Is Waking Up written by Jason Ryberg and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-08-24 with Poetry categories.

From the beginning of time, poems have been smuggled out of prisons, exchanged on battlefields, passed from hand to hand, carved on walls, written in the margins, distributed on street corners, and carried in coat-pockets overseas. Every culture and generation produce poetry in response to the injustices of its time. Deeply rooted in resilience, the enduring nature of poetry and its ability to capture the struggles of the past can serve as a sustaining force in a sea of turmoil. If creativity is a form of protest, then the poet is the protester. Pablo Neruda saw the power of poets and the remarkable potential of their words: Earth, people, and poetry are one and the same entity tied together by mysterious subterranean passages. When the earth blooms, the people breath freedom, the poets sing and show the way.¹ When poems are gathered together, they form a mighty body that is impossible to constrain, like the sea. Every time a poem touches someone's conscience, like gathering drops, it invites the possibility for action, forming a tempest. Thus, the transformative potential of resistance poetry can serve as a potent antidote against the injustices of the world.

George Webber’s poignant black-and-white photographs transport us into the forgotten, unknowable communities of the Canadian prairies. Throughout the journey, we’re confronted by the mysterious particulars of life, death, landscape and faith. Intimate portraits and the hard facts of the place are woven together to create a body of work that is by turns inspiring, consoling and sometimes achingly sad. Individually, these works startle and challenge. As a collection, they represent a photographer’s decades-long meditation on the ever-changing face of the Canadian West.
