Emmanuel Awak-Isang decided that his wife Rose must die. That was a simple decision to make. Decisions like that, experts would agree, are always simple to arrive at, after the decider feels perfectly wronged by the object of his ire. But carrying out a homicide without leaving a trail which dedicated hounds could pick up on and trace the crime to its source usually proves trickier than just making a financial investment in a murder tool. And that is just one obstacle. Like marriage counselors have been saying about relationships, communication is very important. In Emmanuels case, because he did not inform the object of his extreme despise in a timely manner, either in word or action that he was planning to do her in, unknowingly, she kept messing up his plan to kill her.

A Book on Fatherhood Revealing the Consequences of Fatherless Homes Statistics, provided by US D.H.H.S., Bureau of Census, show that 85% of all youths sitting in prisons, 63% of youth suicides, 90% of all homeless and runaway children; and 85% of all children that exhibit behavioral disorders come from fatherless homes. These are only few of the depressing truths and information caused by this situation. Author Keith G. Walker shares his own personal struggles from living a life without a father to trying to save his sons from a similar fate. In his engrossing book, Father's Dey, readers will discover how he lived such a complicated life at such a young age and how he made it through. Why do these things occur and how could these issues be addressed? "I feel there is a great disparity when it comes to fathers gaining custody of their children and want to bring this problem to the attention of the public so that changes can be made, giving fathers an even playing field," Walker says. In Father's Dey, readers will follow the story of a young man who grew up without his parents, lived with several different relatives, and despite the low odds of surviving, he goes on to do great things and become very successful and a good example to others in similar situations. Walker has written two fictitious chapters which show what has happened with others and what can happen depicting situations and outcomes where no one wins. This book is an eye-opening instrument that would enlighten readers about the value of family, the essence of parental love, and the importance of parental guidance and presence in their children's growing up years. Filled with real life events common to many families throughout the world, suffused with intense emotions, and dashed with indispensable insights on fatherhood and family rearing, Father's Dey is an interesting and inspirational read everyone will find fascinating and revealing.

They stand as unselfconscious as if the photograph were being taken at a church picnic and not during one of the pitched battles of the civil rights struggle. None of them knows that the image will appear in Life magazine or that it will become an icon of its era. The year is 1962, and these seven white Mississippi lawmen have gathered to stop James Meredith from integrating the University of Mississippi. One of them is swinging a billy club. More than thirty years later, award-winning journalist and author Paul Hendrickson sets out to discover who these men were, what happened to them after the photograph was taken, and how racist attitudes shaped the way they lived their lives. But his ultimate focus is on their children and grandchildren, and how the prejudice bequeathed by the fathers was transformed, or remained untouched, in the sons. Sons of Mississippi is a scalding yet redemptive work of social history, a book of eloquence and subtlely that tracks the movement of racism across three generations and bears witness to its ravages among both black and white Americans.

Americans have built an empire on the idea of “race,” a falsehood that damages us all but falls most heavily on the bodies of black women and men—bodies exploited through slavery and segregation, and, today, threatened, locked up, and murdered out of all proportion. What is it like to inhabit a black body and find a way to live within it? And how can we all honestly reckon with this fraught history and free ourselves from its burden? Between the World and Me is Ta-Nehisi Coates’s attempt to answer these questions in a letter to his adolescent son. Coates shares with his son—and readers—the story of his awakening to the truth about his place in the world through a series of revelatory experiences, from Howard University to Civil War battlefields, from the South Side of Chicago to Paris, from his childhood home to the living rooms of mothers whose children’s lives were taken as American plunder. Beautifully woven from personal narrative, reimagined history, and fresh, emotionally charged reportage, Between the World and Me clearly illuminates the past, bracingly confronts our present, and offers a transcendent vision for a way forward.

Little attention has been paid to the lives led by families of prisoners. Using a feminist approach, the author explores how the lives of 25 wives of prisoners at Soledad prison are affected by the incarceration of their husbands. Relationships, stigma, coping, finances, children, the prison system, and rehabilitation are explored through in-depth interviews. This study describes the experiences of the wives and seeks to connect their experiences to a conceptual framework that explores the context of sex, race, and class inequalities. The author discusses prison policy recommendations to improve the lot of prisoners' families, emphasizing the ways in which life is organized in families where the husband/father is imprisoned. Several themes emerge in this work. The powerful role of the wife, women as caretakers, and the subordinate position these women hold in society due to their sex, class, and race, are some examples. Recommendations are made to ease the burden of visiting, and encourage maintenance of family roles.

Moving Beyond Words written by Gloria Steinem and has been published by Open Road Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-05-15 with Social Science categories.

Essays from the New York Times–bestselling author who inspired the film The Glorias, a “woman who has told the truth about her life and ours” (Los Angeles Times). With cool humor and rich intellect, Gloria Steinem strips bare our social constructions of gender and race, explaining just how limiting these invented cultural identities can be. In the first of six sections, Steinem imagines how our understanding of human psychology would be different in a witty reversal: What if Freud had been a woman who inflicted biological inferiority on men (think “womb envy”)? In other essays, she presents positive examples of people who turn gendered stereotypes on their heads, from a female bodybuilder to Mahatma Gandhi, whose followers absorbed his wisdom that change starts at the bottom. And in some of the most moving pieces, Steinem reveals some of her own complicated history as a writer, woman, and citizen of the world. This ebook features an illustrated biography of Gloria Steinem including rare images from the author’s personal collection.
