The Concept Of Right And Duties Is Perhaps As Old As The Civilization. Whether Entitled Under Specific Provisions Or Names, Mankind Has Always Enjoyed Certain Basic Freedom And Rights. The Extent And The Proportion Of These Rights Enjoyed By The People Has Never Been Universally Uniform. It Varied From Time To Time, Place To Place, Person To Person Depending Upon The Prevailing Politico-Religious And Cultural Settings And Situations Of The Time. The Idea Of Rights And Duties Has Grown Alongwith The Growth Of Civilization. In Present Times It Has Under-Gone Metamorphism, Encompassing All Kind Of Rights, Ensuring The Welfare And Dignity Of Human Beings, Transgressing All Kind Of Boundaries: Physical Territorial, Religious, Political, Cultural, Gender, Colour Or Race. Today The Idea Of Human Rights Has Gained Such A Momentum That Every Nation-State Guarantees Certain Basic Rights To Its Citizens To Ensure Their Individual And Collective Well Being. Despite Such Guarantees, There Is Exploitation, Discrimination And Violation Of Basic Human Rights. The Reality Is That It Is The Woman Who Is Discriminated, Exploited And Denied Such Freedom And Privileges, Which Are Available To Their Counterpart. This Situation Is More Grave And Pathetic In Developing Countries Particularly Afro-Asian Countries. The Study Analyses The Human Rights With Respect To Women In India. It Analyses The 0Nature And Kind Of Violations Of Basic Rights And Freedoms To Which Indian Women Are Subjected To Despite The Constitutional Provisions And Guarantees. It Also Looks Into Factors Responsible For The Violation Of Human Rights In Case Of Indian Women And The Possible Remedies. Scientific Essay from the year 2006 in the subject Politics - International Politics - Topic: Public International Law and Human Rights, grade: 1,0, Ruhr-University of Bochum (Institute for International Law of Peace and Armed Conflict), course: European Master Programme, 19 entries in the bibliography, language: English, abstract: India stands today at a crucial crossroad in its path towards greater social progress and actualization of children's and women rights, both of which are inextricably linked to each other, and to which the Government - according to the Constitution and ratification of international treaties - is deeply committed. Still, the situation of India's women and children is marked by diversity and persistent disparities and nearly two centuries of colonialism and many more centuries of a rigid caste system, have "maintained a stubborn barrier to meaningful social transformation." International human rights law has been designed to protect the full range of human rights required for people to have a full, free, safe, secure and healthy life. Health care is seen as one of the fundamental principles of the global human rights system, and the right to live a dignified life can never be attained without it. Since women and children's health is strongly linked to their status in Indian society, a strong focus must lay on the foundation of women and children's right to health, as it is written down in several international agreements and treaties India has ratified. The primary basis of the United Nations activities to promote, protect and monitor human rights and fundamental freedoms is the International Bill of Human Rights, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948), the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (1966), and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (1966) and its two optional protocols. When a State ratifies one of the Covenants, it accepts a solemn responsibility to apply each of

International Law Of Human Rights Is A System Of Normative Instruments Of Guidance, Supervision And Implementation. It Influences States To Recognize And Accept Human Rights In Their National Institutions. Accordingly The Framers Of The Indian Constitution Incorporated It In Part Iii And Part Iv As Chapters Of Fundamental Rights And Directive Principles Of State Policy Respectively Which Are Replica Of Human Rights. The Author In This Book Objectively Evaluates The Constitutional Measures Adopted By India For Implementation Of Human Rights. For This Purpose, Firstly, The International Yardstick (The Universal Declaration Of Human Rights And The International Covenants Of Human Rights) Has Been Systematically Examined To Bring To The Surface Various Shortcomings For Improvement. Secondly, For Systematic Scientific Comparison, Constitutional Rights Have Been Divided Into Two Categories, I.E. Specifically Guaranteed Rights And Impliedly Guaranteed Rights. Impliedly Guaranteed Rights Are Further Divided Into Two Categories Of Rights Which Are Available Due To The Wider Interpretation Of The Word Life And The Phrase Personal Liberty . Rights Have Been Discussed In The Same Order As Are Present In The Indian Constitution And Then These Rights Have Been Examined On The Basis Of International Law Of Human Rights. Finally, Jurisprudence Of The Rights Makes The Concept Further Clear To Pinpoint Shortcomings In The Indian Legal System. This Outstanding Work, Therefore, Objectively Evaluates India S Performance In The Field Of Human Rights To Bring To The Notice Of Abuses Of These Rights. All women in India are the victim of doubled prejudice: that of her gender. In one side she is treated as a goddess just like goddess in several forms like Kanya, Laxmi, Durga, Parvati, Sarsvati, Mata etc. Almost everywhere mother is still respectable, in many families daughters gets respect as a Kanya but in other hand they are victimized everywhere; at home she has to face domestic violence, gender discrimination and blame on character. Sometimes she faces physical abashment or raped by her relative or on the public places. A woman may be 6 months old or 80 years old doesn't matter, they are unsafe at work place, public place even at home. So to face these all situations women have to become more strong, aware and united.
