Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 1997 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Linguistik, Note: 2,0, Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen, Veranstaltung: Einführung in die Sprachwissenschaft, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Diese Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit dem Wort, Wortarten und Wortbildungen. Als Grundlage dienen hauptsächlich das „Handbuch der deutschen Grammatik“ von Elke Hentschel und Harald Weydt (1990) und „Neuhochdeutsch: Eine Einführung in die Sprachwissenschaft“ von Rosemarie Lühr (1996). Da das Wort ein intuitiv vorgegebener sowie umgangssprachlich verwendeter Begriff für sprachliche Grundeinheiten ist, ist es schwierig, eine allgemeingültige und befriedigende Definition für dieses zu geben. Deshalb werden im ersten Kapitel mehrere Definitionsweisen, die auf unterschiedliche Beschreibungsebenen basieren, vorgestellt. Anschließend werden im zweiten Kapitel - nach kurzer Definition des Begriffs Wortart - Wörter anhand von unterschiedlichen Merkmalen in Wortarten eingeteilt. Es erfolgt eine Einteilung der Wörter nach Merkmalen, die von rein semantischer (bedeutungsunterscheidender) Art sind und Wörter in fünf verschiedene Bereiche gliedert. Eine andere mögliche Einteilung richtet sich nach semantischen, morphologischen (Form und Gestalt betreffend) und syntaktischen (Satzbau betreffend) Kriterien. Im dritten und letzten Kapitel wird die Wortbildung erläutert. Mögliche grammatische Mittel und Verfahren zur Neubildung eines Wortes und mögliche Einteilungen in Wortbildungstypen sind Bestandteil dieses Kapitels. Insgesamt werden drei verschiedene Einteilungsarten aufgeführt. Auf die Einteilung in Wortbildungstypen nach Coseriu in Hentschel und Weydt (neben den beiden Einteilungen nach Fleischer und Lühr) wird in Kapitel drei näher eingegangen, da diese durch ihre geringe Zahl an Typen und leicht verständliche Art der Einteilung am übersichtlichsten ist. An den jeweiligen Wortbildungstyp schließen sich Beispiele für die drei Hauptwortarten Verb, Substantiv und Adjektiv in genannter Reihenfolge an.
