“Before Dr. Farmer, I absolutely hated school. Dr. Farmer saw me as a human being, not just a student. He forced me to think for myself. He was my professor and my mentor! He pushed me to see there are no limits to my opportunities to come. Dr. Farmer believed in me when I did not believe in myself, whether making a jump shot or making a good grade.” —Tianna G. Crockett, M. A., Bluefield University “Rick Farmer combines keen biblical insights with a wise, devotional heart as he leads the reader through the unique and powerful advent of Christ contained in the Gospel of Luke. Rick’s A Timeless Script is just what the doctor ordered for those looking for a Guide through Advent and beyond.” —Henry W. Clary, Ph.D., Professor, Bluefield University “We’re sick, and in desperate need of a doctor, to both diagnose and treat. In A Timeless Script from a 1st Century Doctor, Dr. Rick Farmer wisely recommends Luke’s Gospel, written by a physician whose treatment plan would be initially resisted, or downright rejected by most. But Luke’s Gospel, specifically the first two chapters, highlight the uniquely universal cure capable of healing us all - The Advent of Christ. The story of the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, who embarked on a mission to save, teach, and heal, offers a remedy for all. Despite the heartache, pain, and suffering found in this timeless story, it is the miraculous truth of faith, hope, and love that provides us with the prescription we desperately need. If you are seeking to be restored to a healthy state of mind and body, so you can live a life of meaning and purpose, look no further.” —Scott Weibling (Author of River Guide, Published by Scott Weibling, 2017.)

Josy and her family went on a festive Hawaiian cruise for Thanksgiving. They were surprised to hear that one of the most famous celebrities in Hollywood was going to be promoting his newest movie by performing a show. The smiles of a family vacation were shattered when Josy received a viscious injury while lounging at the pool. The ship's security needed to find the answers for Josy, her family, and the passengers on the ship. While recuperating in her state-room, Josy saw what looked to be a baby being thrown into the ocean. Josy’s mothering instinct made her jump into the ocean to save the child. This work provides clear application of a new statistical modeling technique that can be used to recognize patterns in victimization and prevent repeat victimization. The history of crime prevention techniques range from offender-based, to environment/situation-based, to victim-based. The authors of this work have found more accurate ways to predict and prevent victimization using a statistical modeling, based around crime concentration and sub-group profiling with regard to crime vulnerability levels, to predict areas and individuals vulnerable to crime. Following from this prediction, they propose policing strategies to improve crime prevention based on these predictions. With a combination of immediate actions and longer-term research recommendations, this work will be of interest to researchers and policy makers in focused on crime prevention, police studies, victimology and statistical applications.

“We understand what we want to understand.” Leaving a life of privilege to strike out on her own, Lauren Durough breaks with convention and her family’s expectations by choosing a state college over Stanford and earning her own income over accepting her ample monthly allowance. She takes a part-time job from 83-year-old librarian Abigail Boyles, who asks Lauren to transcribe the journal entries of her ancestor Mercy Hayworth, a victim of the Salem witch trials. Almost immediately, Lauren finds herself drawn to this girl who lived and died four centuries ago. As the fervor around the witch accusations increases, Mercy becomes trapped in the worldview of the day, unable to fight the overwhelming influence of snap judgments and superstition, and Lauren realizes that the secrets of Mercy’s story extend beyond the pages of her diary, living on in the mysterious, embittered Abigail. The strength of her affinity with Mercy forces Lauren to take a startling new look at her own life, including her relationships with Abigail, her college roommate, and a young man named Raul. But on the way to the truth, will Lauren find herself playing the helpless defendant or the misguided judge? Can she break free from her own perceptions and see who she really is?

I remember when I was on an opinion survey in 1945, it was often argued in favor of the cause that as long as there was a neutral government, minorities had little to worry about; but in a Hindu-dominated democratic India, they saw a future fraught with uncertainty and insecurity. It was countered very ably by a girl whom I still remembershy, short statured with a shock of curly hair and reading glasses as thick as the vertexes of glass paper weights sliced to fit in the metallic frame. She had said, We would then be a formidable minoritya deciding factorin the most populous democracy of the world, and historically speaking, determined minorities have changed destinies of nations. We were speechless. The argument against the sectarian violence, however, occurring on daily basis since campaign for the separate homeland had started, was hard to brush aside. But now as we look back, werent Pakistanis more ruthless in suppressing their compatriots and brothers in faith East Pakistanis when they talked of a separate homeland for themselves? Here the backlash was formal, and the army was charged to quell the uprising. One four-star general was heard bragging at the departure lounge of Karachi Airport before flying to Dacca to subjugate the upheavalNext Bengali generation would speak Punjabi! To Indians, Muslims demand for a separate homeland was also la guerre de secession.
