Zum anderen analysiert die Autorin systematisch, welche Bedeutung das Sportengagement als jugendtypische Freizeitaktivität für die zentral mit der Gedankenfigur der juvenilen Identitätsentwicklung verknüpften Zeitperspektiven hat. Die Forschungsergebnisse deuten darauf hin, dass eine positive Sicht auf die Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft eng mit dem (leistungs-)sportlichen Engagement von Jugendlichen assoziiert ist, womit die hohe (sport-)pädagogische Relevanz der behandelten Thematik erkennbar wird.
