The Economics Of Human Rights written by Elizabeth Wheaton and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-09-21 with Business & Economics categories.

Economics plays a key role in human rights issues as decision-makers weigh the incentives associated with choosing how to use scarce resources in the context of committing or escaping human rights violence. This textbook provides an introduction to the microeconomic analysis of human rights utilizing economics as a lens through which to examine social topics including capital punishment, violence against women, asylum seeking, terrorism, child abuse, genocide, and hate. Whether analyzing the decisions made in capital punishment cases, the causes and consequences of genocide, or the impact of terrorist acts on domestic and international decision-making, the science of economics provides tools and a systematic method of analysis and policy recommendation. This key text presents a method for integrating the social sciences of economics and human rights to create new opportunities for the investigation of social issues. Within each chapter, readers gain a fundamental understanding of a specific human rights issue, the decision-makers and the decision-making process involved, and the benefits and costs leading to the decisions. Experts on each issue, drawn from a variety of fields, contribute to each chapter and present first-hand accounts and different perspectives on each issue. The detailed analyses and accounts provided also explore the potential incentives involved in the prevention and termination of human rights violations. Aiming to further economic inquiry and enhance interdisciplinary research, this textbook serves as a multi-purpose guide for a range of readers. Students, researchers, and educators, as well as those working in organizations supporting victims of human rights violations and policy-makers facing human rights challenges, will find this book informative and engaging.

This book gathers together selected contributions presented at the 3rd Moroccan Andalusian Meeting on Algebras and their Applications, held in Chefchaouen, Morocco, April 12-14, 2018, and which reflects the mathematical collaboration between south European and north African countries, mainly France, Spain, Morocco, Tunisia and Senegal. The book is divided in three parts and features contributions from the following fields: algebraic and analytic methods in associative and non-associative structures; homological and categorical methods in algebra; and history of mathematics. Covering topics such as rings and algebras, representation theory, number theory, operator algebras, category theory, group theory and information theory, it opens up new avenues of study for graduate students and young researchers. The findings presented also appeal to anyone interested in the fields of algebra and mathematical analysis.

A Standard Model Workbook written by Thomas A. Moore and has been published by MIT Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-12-11 with Science categories.

This introduction to the Standard Model of particle physics provides students with a classroom-tested workbook to optimize learning this material in student-centered classes. Developed to support a one-semester upper-level undergraduate or graduate course, it includes hundreds of homework problems that will guide students to a clear understanding of this fascinating field. A Standard Model Workbook provides upper-level undergraduates a one-semester introduction to the Standard Model of particle physics. Its classroom-tested workbook design offers multiple paths through the material, consisting of short chapters that provide an overview of a topic followed by opportunities for students to work out the details for themselves, concluding with homework problems to further develop students’ understanding of the concepts. This allows students to truly own the materials by working through it and allows instructors to construct an active, student-centered class.Topics include a review of special relativity and quantum mechanics; the Lagrangian mechanics of fields; some basic quantum field theory; Feynman diagrams; solutions to the Dirac equation; the U(1), SU(2), and SU(3) symmetries and their implications for electrodynamics; the electroweak theory and quantum chromodynamics; renormalization; the Higgs mechanism; fermion and neutrino masses; experimental tests and applications of the Standard Model; and a look at possibilities beyond the Standard Model. The book is designed to offer multiple paths through the material so that instructors can choose what to emphasize. Online “Hints and Selected Solutions” are also available, as is an online Instructor’s Manual.

Nonlinear Waves written by Emmanuel Kengne and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-02-23 with Science categories.

This book highlights the methods to engineer dissipative and magnetic nonlinear waves propagating in nonlinear systems. In the first part of the book, the authors present methodologically mathematical models of nonlinear waves propagating in one- and two-dimensional nonlinear transmission networks without/with dissipative elements. Based on these models, the authors investigate the generation and the transmission of nonlinear modulated waves, in general, and solitary waves, in particular, in networks under consideration. In the second part of the book, the authors develop basic theoretical results for the dynamics matter-wave and magnetic-wave solitons of nonlinear systems and of Bose–Einstein condensates trapped in external potentials, combined with the time-modulated nonlinearity. The models treated here are based on one-, two-, and three-component non-autonomous Gross–Pitaevskii equations. Based on the Heisenberg model of spin–spin interactions, the authors also investigate the dynamics of magnetization in ferromagnet with or without spin-transfer torque. This research book is suitable for physicists, mathematicians, engineers, and graduate students in physics, mathematics, and network and information engineering.

This book provides a comprehensive coverage of major channel codes adopted since the 3rd generation of mobile communication. Modulation schemes suitable for 5G mobile communications are also described based on key New Radio application scenarios and performance requirements. It covers low density parity check (LDPC) codes, Polar codes, tail-biting convolutional codes (TBCC) and Turbo codes. Outer codes and a few advanced coding and modulations are also discussed. In addition, it includes detailed illustration of each channel coding scheme such as the basic code structure, decoding algorithms, performance evaluation and complexity analysis. The book offers insights on why and how channel codes are designed and developed in standardization organizations, which significantly facilitates the reading and understanding of the of 5G channel coding technologies. Channel Coding in 5G New Radio will be an essential read for researchers and students of digital communications, wireless communications engineers, and those who are interested in mobile communications in general.
