Zippy's ongoing love affair with Brand X America, in all its faded roadside glory, takes him to the "Neon Boneyard," Barnum's sideshow, Japan, Levittown, and the early 1900s. Plus a politically incorrect take on the Iraq War.

In our latest collection of the Zippy the Pinhead daily comic strip, Zippy is visits his home town, Dingburg: the only city in the US inhabited entirely by pinheads (well, aside from Washington, DC. And some sections of Newark). Reader response to this new Dingburg "story thread" has been loud and approving, with many asking for directions to the fabled enclave, somewhere "17 miles west of Baltimore". Detailed maps will be provided on the new book's endpapers. Also in this issue: the revealing "Little Zippy" series, in which Zippy's magical and very weird childhood is laid bare. And, finally, Zippy and J. Edgar Hoover (remember him?) cavort in tutus and play with loaded guns.

Comprising a full two and a half years’ worth of dailies and full-color Sundays, The Dingburg Diaries is the third Zippy book featuring tales of “Dingburg, the City Inhabited Entirely by Pinheads”―Zippy’s home town. There’s even a long series of “Historical Dingburg” strips, chronicling the pinhead population through the years, from 1840, when Dingburg’s “Town Fool” accidentally invented disco, to 1958 when Dingburg Beatniks flourished in the town’s Bohemian neighborhood. Like, Yowl, man. God also has his own chapter (and verse). In the guise of a clip art “author ity figure,” he dispenses unwanted advice and conditional love upon the citizens of Dingburg. His tendency to cross-dress reaches new heights when he appears in a performance of “Swine Lake,” wearing a tutu. Sacrilegious, yet sensitive. There are large chunks of Mr. The Toad, Zerbina, Little Zippy and the rest of Griffith’s cast of characters throughout this expanded collection.

What-?! Zippy hijacked!? And by marauding speech balloon appropriators, no less!? This shocking turn of events, and more, is chronicled in th latest collection of the Zippy the Pinhead daily comic strip, Zippy: Walk a Mile in My Muu-Muu. In the aforementioned storyline, all of the strip's dialogue is usurped by balloons taken directly from old comics like Beach Blanket Bingo, Rusty Riley, UFO Comics, Mutt and Jeff, and Steve Roper. Will Zippy get his voice back? And will he remember being abducted from a Kansas cow-lot by little gray aliens?

Bill Griffith's Zippy the Pinhead is a pop culture icon. The surrealist-leaning character is one of the most recognizable figures on the newspaper pages, seen by tens of millions of people a day. Syndicated by King Features since 1986, Zippy is read in hundreds of daily newspapers across the country, while the Pinhead's trademark non-sequitur, "Are we having fun yet?," has become so often repeated it's inBartlett's Familiar Quotations. His likeness has been grafittied on the Berlin Wall and aped for Saturday Night Live's classic "Conehead" sketches. This new Zippy collection features approximately a year's worth of strips, from November 2003 through November 2004, including full-color Sundays. Follow Zippy as he weaves in and out of "Bushmiller Country" (the land formerly inhabited by Ernie Bushmiller's classic Nancy comic strip) and as if things weren't strange enough he suddenly begins spouting Japanese, French, Russian, Farsi, Hungarian, Greek, Finnish and Latin! Zippy meets aliens, revisits Levittown (his birthplace) with Griffy, confronts the evil "Ziggy" and frolics with advertising icons like Reddy Kilowatt, Mr. Bubble, Colonel Sanders and the long-forgotten Unifax Astroboy. Oh, yeah, and he takes a long, hot bath (without Mr. Bubble).

.html by Bill Griffith Bill Griffith's Zippy the Pinhead is a pop culture icon. Born in underground comix, the surrealist character is now one of the most recognizable characters on the newspaper pages, and is currently in production as an animated series to debut on the Showtime Network in 2002. Syndicated since 1986 by King Features, ZIPPY is read in over 200 newspapers seven days a week. Zippy's trademark non-sequitur, "Are we having fun yet?" has become so often-repeated that it is now in Bartlett's Familiar Quotations. His likeness was graphittied on the former Berlin Wall, while Dan Akroyd is rumored to have created his Saturday Night Live characters, the Coneheads, after seeing Zippy for the first time. With Zippy Annual 2001 (a.k.a. "Z2K1"), all of Griffith's hilarious strips from 2000 and 2001 are collected into one place to guide us into the 21st Century. Millennium fever never seemed so, well, absurd. Frivolity is a stern taskmaster, and these brilliant black-and-white dailies and color Sundays (Griffith is a master of color and the printing process of the newspaper page) spotlight Griffith's inimitably existential and surreal sense of humor. "Bill Griffith's nationally syndicated Zippy continually stretches the intellectual bounds of the daily newspaper strip," writes the San Francisco Examiner. Plus, it's damn funny. SC, 160pg, PC

Lost And Found written by Bill Griffith and has been published by Fantagraphics Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-01-30 with Comics & Graphic Novels categories.

Bill Griffith is best known as the creator of the Zippy daily comic strip, currently running in over 300 newspapers nationwide, but Zippy was conceived as an underground comix character before he became embraced in the mainstream. Beginning in 1969, Griffith contributed stories to a long list of legendary undergrounds. Lost and Found is not only a collection of these underground comix — hand-picked by the artist himself — but a mini-memoir of the artist’s comix career during the early days of the San Francisco Underground and his nearly twenty year on-again, off-again involvement with Hollywood and TV. This collection from one of the great, pioneering cartoonists also features Griffith’s comics for High Times, The National Lampoon, The San Francisco Examiner and The New Yorker.
