There’s a zombie gnawing on your arm! But there wouldn’t be if you threw some CSS in its face. Zombies loath web development and when you take those websites from skeletal HTML structures to fleshed out CSS beauties they’ll take out twice the zombies per site. CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) is how you add color, design and style to your website. What You'll Beat Zombies With You'll learn all the major zombie-fighting CSS skills like how to set colors, change fonts, create backgrounds, use the CSS box-model, move elements around with floats and positioning and build two column layouts with flexbox. Your webpages will never again be as drab as a zombie's thought processes. How You'll Learn to Smack Zombies Around You won't just passively take in the view, like a zombie shuffling across the mainland. You’ll have plenty of combat practice with analogies, examples, and code tutorials you can build, break and fix again. You’ve got a pretty good handle on HTML and CSS basics. You’ve built your first site to zombie thwacking applause and then you expanded, thwacking the snot out of the horde, but you can go further. In this book we’ll do a little site maintenance to make your building job easier and your site more robust. We’ll then expand the store side of the site, adding a page for each item (giving you more zombie-smashing weapon slots, so to speak). Once that’s done we’ll add some interactive HTML and CSS. We’ll first add a form to the donation page and explore some of the form HTML elements and attributes we didn’t get to in Expand Your First Website like select, option, multiple, min, max and step. Next we’ll create a set of drop down menus using CSS pseudo classes and the direct descendant selector combinator. Then we’ll add a full, interactive photo gallery where you can change what large image is shown by clicking on a thumbnail. We’ll discuss the :checked pseudo class and the sibling selector combinators. Didn’t do the earlier books? No worries, we’ll provide the files from the end of the previous book so you can get down and dirty with that zombie stomping code immediately. What are you waiting for? Lets get to the further expanding of that first website of yours!

Zombies In Western Culture written by John Vervaeke and has been published by Open Book Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-06-15 with Social Science categories.

Why has the zombie become such a pervasive figure in twenty-first-century popular culture? John Vervaeke, Christopher Mastropietro and Filip Miscevic seek to answer this question by arguing that particular aspects of the zombie, common to a variety of media forms, reflect a crisis in modern Western culture. The authors examine the essential features of the zombie, including mindlessness, ugliness and homelessness, and argue that these reflect the outlook of the contemporary West and its attendant zeitgeists of anxiety, alienation, disconnection and disenfranchisement. They trace the relationship between zombies and the theme of secular apocalypse, demonstrating that the zombie draws its power from being a perversion of the Christian mythos of death and resurrection. Symbolic of a lost Christian worldview, the zombie represents a world that can no longer explain itself, nor provide us with instructions for how to live within it. The concept of 'domicide' or the destruction of home is developed to describe the modern crisis of meaning that the zombie both represents and reflects. This is illustrated using case studies including the relocation of the Anishinaabe of the Grassy Narrows First Nation, and the upheaval of population displacement in the Hellenistic period. Finally, the authors invoke and reformulate symbols of the four horseman of the apocalypse as rhetorical analogues to frame those aspects of contemporary collapse that elucidate the horror of the zombie. Zombies in Western Culture: A Twenty-First Century Crisis is required reading for anyone interested in the phenomenon of zombies in contemporary culture. It will also be of interest to an interdisciplinary audience including students and scholars of culture studies, semiotics, philosophy, religious studies, eschatology, anthropology, Jungian studies, and sociology.
