Bachelorarbeit aus dem Jahr 2014 im Fachbereich Pädagogik - Erwachsenenbildung, Technische Universität Carolo-Wilhelmina zu Braunschweig, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Rund 33% der deutschen Bevölkerung leidet jedes Jahr an einer oder mehreren psychischen Erkrankungen (vgl. Jachertz, 2013, S. 269). Psychische Erkrankungen treten oft zusammen mit anderen Krankheiten auf und können für Menschen folglich einen schweren Einschnitt im Leben bedeuten. Diese Belastung kann zu langfristigen und wiederholten Ausfällen von Arbeitnehmern führen. Für betroffene Menschen und ihre Umgebung ist es oft ein langer Weg des Leidens, wobei der soziale Kontakt massive Einbußen erfährt. In Deutschland leben ca. 16,3 Millionen Menschen mit Migrationshintergrund, die eben-falls psychische Erkrankungen aufweisen können (Statistisches Bundesamt, 2012). Laut Bermejo u. a. (2011, S. 209) erleiden diese mindestens genauso häufig psychische Erkrankungen wie die deutsche Bevölkerung. Doch wie häufig psychotherapeutische Behandlungen bei Menschen mit Migrationshintergrund erfolgen und wie es aktuell um die psychotherapeutische Versorgung von Migrantinnen und Migranten in Deutschland steht, wurde bisher kaum untersucht. Die Ursachen für die Entwicklung psychischer Erkrankungen sind hingegen bekannter. So muss das eigene Heimatland zumeist aus der Not heraus verlassen werden und zudem bestehen Sprach- und Kulturprobleme im Aufnahmeland. Die psychotherapeutische Behandlung ist daher für den Erhalt der psychischen Gesundheit vieler Migrantinnen und Migrantinnen und Migranten in Deutschland die einzige Möglichkeit. Die vorliegende Arbeit befasst sich überwiegend mit der Behandlung von Migrantinnen und Migranten, jedoch können auch bei Menschen mit Migrationshintergrund, die in zweiter oder dritter Generation in Deutschland leben, sprachliche und kulturelle Verständigungsprobleme bestehen. Daher handelt es sich bei „Migranten“ um ein Oberbegriff für Menschen deren Muttersprache nicht die deutsche Sprache ist. Zusätzlich wird im Nach-folgenden, zur Vermeidung unnötiger Länge dieser Arbeit, der Begriff „Migranten“ verwendet, wobei ausdrücklich und gendergerecht immer von Migrantinnen und Migranten die Rede ist. Auf Grundlage der Fragestellung „Warum ist die interkulturelle Kommunikation in einer psychotherapeutischen Sitzung, elementar für die erfolgreiche Versorgung von Migrantinnen und Migranten?“ werden zunächst Begrifflichkeiten erläutert, um eine definierte Arbeitsgrundlage zu schaffen. The publication of the Cultural Formulation Outline in the DSM-IV represented a significant event in the history of standard diagnostic systems. It was the first systematic attempt at placing cultural and contextual factors as an integral component of the diagnostic process. The year was 1994 and its coming was ripe since the multicultural explosion due to migration, refugees, and globalization on the ethnic composition of the U.S. population made it compelling to strive for culturally attuned psychiatric care. Understanding the limitations of a dry symptomatological approach in helping clinicians grasp the intricacies of the experience, presentation, and course of mental illness, the NIMH Group on Culture and Diagnosis proposed to appraise, in close collaboration with the patient, the cultural framework of the patient's identity, illness experience, contextual factors, and clinician-patient relationship, and to narrate this along the lines of five major domains. By articulating the patient's experience and the standard symptomatological description of a case, the clinician may be better able to arrive at a more useful understanding of the case for clinical care purposes. Furthermore, attending to the context of the illness and the person of the patient may additionally enhance understanding of the case and enrich the database from which effective treatment can be planned. This reader is a rich collection of chapters relevant to the DSM-IV Cultural Formulation that covers the Cultural Formulation's historical and conceptual background, development, and characteristics.
