William O. Thweatt This book is the second in three surveys of the literature in the history of economic thought in the Kluwer Recent Economic Thought series. The first book, covering the pre-classical literature, has already been published; a third, on the neo-c1assical period, is planned for 1988. This middle book surveys the writings on classical political economy for the past 30 years, or roughly since the publication of Joseph Schumpeter's 1954 monumental History of Economic Analysis. Shortly after World War II, the American Economic Association spon sored a Survey of Contemporary Economics [1949]. That work covered 13 subdisciples of economics, and in 1952 a companion piece appeared in which surveys of 10 additional subdisciples were presented. As Bernard Haley, editor of the second volume, stated, even "though in the two volumes twenty-three fields have been treated ... there remain some aspects of the subject ... that have not been reviewed" [Haley, 1952, p. v].

Europe In The High Middle Ages written by William Chester Jordan and has been published by Penguin UK this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2002-08 with History categories.

With a lucid and clear narrative style William Chester Jordan has turned his considerable talents to composing a standard textbook of the opening centuries of the second millennium in Europe. He brings this period of dramatic social, political, economic, cultural, religious and military change, alive to the general reader. Jordan presents the early Medieval period as a lost world, far removed from our current age, which had risen from the smoking rubble of the Roman Empire, but from which we are cut off by the great plagues and famines that ended it. Broad in scope, punctuated with impressive detail, and highly accessible, Jordan's book is set to occupy a central place in university courses of the medieval period.

Global History And Migrations written by Gungwu Wang and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-02-12 with History categories.

Humans have been on the move for millennia. They have done so slowly as well as quickly, sometimes involuntarily, sometimes transported by force, often relocated at great cost in lives, but they have always moved. Over the centuries, improved transportation has eased the movement, even in the face of man-made or natural obstacles. But in modern times, migration has accelerated and its reach has become truly global.Whether it is Turkish gastarbeiter in Germany, Japanese Nisei in Seattle, Filipinos in Kuwait, or Haitians in Brooklyn, the costs and benefits of human mobility on such a wide and rapid scale are hotly debated. Global History and Migrations, the second volume of the Global History Series, explores the historical background of this issue by focusing on recent history, a time when human movements have been at their most dynamic. This book provides a rich, cross-cultural foundation for a more enlightened understanding of migration and its role in the unfolding shape of global history.

Global Apartheid written by Anthony H. Richmond and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1994 with History categories.

Refugees are a growing element in the population movements that result from ethnic conflicts, civil wars, and environmental disasters. The economically privileged seek to protect their advantage, while the deprived fight for their share. "Global apartheid" is how Richmond describes some host countries' response to these conflicts by creating barriers designed to stem the flow of migrants and protect the power, benefits, and status of the host societies. This work examines the impact of postindustrialism, postmodernism, and globalization on international migration, racial conflict, and ethnic nationalism.
