The two primary authors began writing this book while working in an overwhelmed pediatric (or paediatric) ward in Uganda, noted there are no good medical references available that were also appropriate to the setting. With this in mind, we set out to create a pocket manual quick reference, that could be used by medical students, interns, residents and attendings alike, and would provide basic guidance for how to begin to manage all of the most common problems seen in a hospital.
