In "A Russian-Yakut-Ewenki Trilingual Dictionary" by N.V. Sljunin, José Andrés Alonso de la Fuente offers the philological edition of a very early twentieth-century source of two indigenous languages from Siberia. This edition includes the facsimile of the original handwritten document. Whereas specialists have known about the existence of Sljunin's Yakut data by indirect references to it in at least one standard dictionary, there was no available information regarding Sljunin's Ewenki data. Furthermore, careful linguistic analysis reveals that the Ewenki variety reflected in Sljunin's dictionary may have already dissapeared.

The volume is aimed at preserving invaluable knowledge about Ainu, a language-isolate previously spoken in Hokkaido, Sakhalin, and Kurils, which is now on the verge of extinction. Ainu was not a written language, but it possesses a huge documented stock of oral literature, yet is significantly under-described in terms of grammar. It is the only non-Japonic language of Japan and is typologically different not only from Japanese but also from other Northeast Asian languages. Revolving around but not confined to its head-marking and polysynthetic character, Ainu manifests many typologically interesting phenomena, related in particular to the combinability of various voice markers and noun incorporation. Other interesting features of Ainu include vowel co-occurrence restrictions, a mixed system of expressing grammatical relations, which includes the elements of a rare tripartite alignment, nominal classification distinguishing common and locative nouns, elaborate possessive classes, verbal number, a rich four-term evidential system, and undergrammaticalized aspect, which are all explained in the volume. This handbook, the result of unprecedented cooperation of the leading experts of Ainu, will definitely help to increase the clarity of our understanding of Ainu and in a long-term perspective may provide answers to problems of human prehistory as well as open the field of Ainu studies to the world and attract many new students. Tense Voice And Aktionsart In Tungusic written by José Andrés Alonso de la Fuente and has been published by Harrassowitz this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011 with Linguistic analysis (Linguistics) categories.

Ewenki and Manchu are very frequently quoted as the epitome of the more than obvious opposition existing within the Tungusic family between "more agglutinative" and "less agglutinative" languages, the latter exemplified by Ewenki, the former by Manchu. The position of Manchu within Tungusic languages has been always regarded as especial, if not slightly marginal. The traditional interpretation of such differences dictates that Manchu underwent many changes due to the influence of Chinese and Mongolian, among them its tendency towards analysis, in sharp contrast to the synthesis found in the rest of components of the family. For decades, the historical interpretation of these descriptive facts stated that Manchu was an innovative member, while the other Tungusic languages were more conservative, logically retaining more characteristics of the Proto-Tungusic period. While the effects of the contact with Chinese can hardly be denied in some areas of the Manchu grammar, many others await detailed research, something to be even more desirable when taking into account the plethora of available documentation. In the very same vein, Mongolian influences, though well motivated, still await to be properly described in a systematic fashion. In this study I will try to offer some evidences speaking against this traditional position by bringing into discussion morphological issues. Many of the (verbal) analytical formations typical of Manchu could be Proto-Tungusic retentions which in the Common Tungusic stage evolved into suffixes. This would explain why they are not attested in Common Tungusic historical languages, or they are but only partially.
