Egypt My People And Israel My Inheritance written by Daniel C. Timmer and has been published by Inter-Varsity Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-05-15 with Religion categories.

Few parts of the Old Testament are more challenging to read than the prophets. Not only are so-called messianic passages relatively rare, but apart from Jonah, these books seem to present a message that is particularly negative, if not xenophobic, when it comes to the 'nations.' Daniel Timmer contends that this impression is not only mistaken but diametrically opposed to the books' message. Following the direction established by God's foundational promise to Abram in Genesis 12, Timmer examines the presentation of the nations in the Latter Prophets in their original contexts, through the New Testament and into the church's contemporary mission. He explains how the prophets' negative presentations of the nations fit into God's purpose to redeem people from every tribe and tongue, he explores the radical significance of the prophets' frequent predictions that non-Israelites will become integral members of God's chosen people. This study also deals with practical issues, including the place of ethnicity and nationality in Christian identity and the church's fraught relationships with secular and political power structures. This is a volume in the New Studies in Biblical Theology. The NSBT is a series of monographs that address key issues in the discipline of biblical theology.

The Mission Of God written by Christopher J. H. Wright and has been published by InterVarsity Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006-10-23 with Religion categories.

Winner, 2007 Christianity Today Missions/Global Affairs Book Most Christians would agree that the Bible provides a basis for mission. But Christopher Wright boldly maintains that mission is bigger than that--there is in fact a missional basis for the Bible! The entire Bible is generated by and is all about God's mission. In order to understand the Bible, we need a missional hermeneutic of the Bible, an interpretive perspective that is in tune with this great missional theme. We need to see the "big picture" of God's mission and how the familiar bits and pieces fit into the grand narrative of Scripture. Beginning with the Old Testament and the groundwork it lays for understanding who God is, what he has called his people to be and do, and how the nations fit into God's mission, Wright gives us a new hermeneutical perspective on Scripture. This new perspective provides a solid and expansive basis for holistic mission. Wright emphasizes throughout a holistic mission as the proper shape of Christian mission. God's mission is to reclaim the world--and that includes the created order--and God's people have a designated role to play in that mission.

Expository Bible-study guide to Isaiah. Isaiah can seem intimidating. It's a big book covering an extended timescale, full of unfamiliar names and places. You may be familiar with Isaiah's vision of God's holiness in chapter 6 or his description of the cross in chapter 53. But large sections can feel like alien territory. But the book of Isaiah is full of good news. Forming a kind of bridge between the Old Testament and the New Testament, Isaiah enlarges our view of God, sharpens our understanding of salvation, and illuminates our Bible reading. It points forward to Jesus and fuels our vision for the church and our mission. This is good news worth shouting about! This expository guide by pastor and author Tim Chester takes you verse by verse through the text in a digestible and applied way. Each chapter focuses on a key text and shows how its themes play out in the surrounding passages, helping you to drill down into the details while also seeing the big picture. You'll find ideas and challenges for application throughout, plus a helpful glossary at the back. It is less academic than a traditional commentary and includes lots of application. It can be read from cover to cover, used in personal devotions, used to lead small group studies, or used for sermon preparation.

The Case For Progressive Dispensationalism written by Robert Saucy and has been published by Zondervan Academic this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-12-21 with Religion categories.

Debate abounds on the future of Israel and Israel's relation to the church, not only between dispensationalists and non-dispensationalists, but among dispensationalists themselves. In the past that debate has sometimes been acrimonious, and proponents of the differing viewpoints have found little common ground. In recent years, however, views have been modified and developed so that the dialogue is increasingly by cooperation and a mutual exploration of diverse ideas. The Case for Progressive Dispensationalism is intended to enlighten the debate in that same irenic spirit. The book is solidly dispensational in perspective in affirming that the Old Testament prophecies are completely fulfilled in the future, that the nation of Israel has a prophetic future, and that Israel is not the church. Dr. Saucy departs from classic dispensationalism, however, in showing that (1) the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy begins in the present church age, and (2) the church is not a parenthesis in God's program but represents a continuity with the Old Testament messianic program. This modified dispensationalism seeks to satisfy many of the objections of non-dispensational approaches to eschatology while retaining the crucial elements of biblical interpretation that characterize dispensational thought.

God’s Promise to the Chinese God created the heavens and the earth. He created everything from nothingness. God exists forever without reason. Nature, including stars, mountains, rivers, sky, clouds, flowers, trees, seasons, the universe that operates orderly…has been declaring the glory of God and proclaiming the wondrous and mighty works of God. God is spirit. Only those whose spirit is alive to Him can see and perceive God and the things of Him. Since the first man sinned and refused to repent, which caused man’s spiritual death to God, man is no longer spiritual, but worldly. After that, man has been blind and deaf to God and His mighty works. For instance, man takes it for granted that the orderly operated nature came into being by itself.

Michael Rydelnik, professor of Jewish studies at Moody Bible Institute, goes beyond the media images for an in depth, biblically grounded look at the "crisis that never ends"--the conflict between the Israelis and the Arabs. Dr. Rydelnik explores such questions as: Will the violence ever stop? Who really has a right to the land? How did it all start...and where will it all end? This revised and updated edition includes a new chapter that looks at the events that brought the end to the Terror War in 2004, discusses the change of leadership in the Israeli government, and examines the conflict within the Palestinian government following the surprise election victory of the terrorist group Hamas.
