Nützlich dabei ist das mit dem Cyborg gelieferte i-Pad, es kann sowohl die Scans (die Erfahrungen) des Protagonisten abbilden, zugleich aber ist die Puppe mit dem Gerät steuerbar von der jetzt vom täglichen Wahnsinn umzingelten Kernfamilie Bernhard und Monika, die mit ihrem kleinen Modegeschäft ums Überleben kämpfen. Amelie und Mick, ihre Kinder, erleichtern zusammen mit dem aus der Art geschlagenen Hund ́Crash` den Eltern nicht gerade das Leben. Das ändert sich erst, als Tochter Amelie zu ahnen beginnt, dass in ihrem Cyberfreund vielleicht mehr steckt als nur ein Computerprogramm; wenn ihr Herz zu klopfen beginnt, weil "I" sie gelegentlich so intensiv ansieht... Daneben aber dominieren zunehmend andere Probleme das Alltagsleben der Schnurre Familie. Zum Beispiel ein überraschender Auswärtsbesuch des japanischen Amerikaners Henry mit seiner gnadenlos besserwisserischen deutschen Frau, die bis dato verschollen geglaubte Schwester von Monika. Überall mitmischend die spektakulär aufdringliche TV- Mannschaft eines regionalen Fernsehsenders, die sich, im Bestreben innovativ zu sein, permanent neue Gedanken über alte Formate macht.

Heutzutage ist der Mensch nahezu jederzeit und überall per Computer, Laptop, Tablet oder Smartphone mit dem Internet verbunden. Dem durchschnittlichen User ist hier gar nicht bewusst, dass es nahezu unmöglich ist, Internet-Aktivitäten ohne sichtbare Spuren durchzuführen. Diese stellen sich zB in kleinen Datenpaketen (zB Cookies, Web-Logs) dar, welche entweder auf dem Rechner des Users oder auf einem Server gespeichert werden. Auch kommt es vor, dass spezielle Programme (zB Webbugs, Spyware) im Internet, gegenüber dem User verborgen, gerade aus dem Grund geschaffen wurden, um solche und andere Daten zu sammeln und auszuwerten. Für die datenschutzrechtliche Beurteilung von Cookies, Web-Logs, Location Based Services, eMail, Webbugs und Spyware sind vor allem das Datenschutzgesetz (DSG) und das Telekommunikationsgesetz (TKG) als gesetzliche Grundlage zu beachten, wobei das TKG dem DSG als lex spezialis vorgeht. Dieses Buch beleuchtet die genannten Datenanwendungen auf dieser Basis und stellt dar, auf welche Weise, wenn überhaupt, ordnungsgemäß durchgeführt werden können.
