Nu moet hij het beste uit een verschrikkelijke situatie halen. Een nieuwe lichting gijzelaars arriveert in het gijzelaarscentrum waar hij werkt. Eén bepaalde toont hem een foto van een bekend gezicht. Ayman herkent haar als de vrouw uit zijn terugkerende droom waarmee hij uiteindelijk gaat trouwen. Hij staat op het punt haar te ontmoeten, maar nu wordt ze vermist na de landing op de Beiroet-Rafic Hariri International Airport. Ayman gaat haar zoeken, maar kan haar niet vinden in de buurt van het gijzelaarscentrum. Een nieuwe vriend biedt hem de mogelijkheid om wat geld te verdienen en plezier te hebben. Ayman accepteert om wat geld te krijgen, maar nu is hij de man wat geld schuldig en moet hij dit weekend met het geld komen om een nieuwe pak slaag te voorkomen. De ontmoeting met de vrouw van zijn dromen leidt tot een nieuw avontuur op het grondgebied van I.S.I.S. (Islamitische Staat van Irak en Syrië).

Ayman is not happy with joining a group like I. S. I. S. (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) as he dreams of escaping. The problem is that he knows that if he leaves, the guys from I. S. I. S. Now he has to make the best out of a terrible situation. A new batch of hostages arrives at the hostage center that he works at. One particular one shows him a picture of a familiar face. Ayman recognizes her as the woman from his recurring dream that he ends up marrying. He is so close to meeting her, but now she is missing after landing at the Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport. Ayman goes to look for her but cannot find her near the hostage center. A new friend offers him the opportunity to make some money and have some fun. Ayman accepts in order to get some money, but now he owes the man some money and needs to come up with the money by the weekend to avoid another beating. Meeting the woman of his dreams leads to a new adventure across I. S. I. S. (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) territory.

Agriculture is changing rapidly. The greatest current challenge to the agricultural sector is for it to become sustainable in all three of the dimensions profit, people and planet. This is certainly the case in highly urbanized countries like the Netherlands, where agriculture is confronted with high land prices, rising consumer concerns for issues like animal welfare and negative environmental effects but also with new demands from the city for recreation, health care and local food products. These are some of the developments in our society that are forcing agriculture to change. The government, farmers, the agri-food industry and the retail sector struggle to meet this challenge and find new forms of governance. In the Netherlands, the government has called for a ‘transition towards sustainable agriculture’ and it is investing in this programme with its research and education policy. Similar trends have been observed in other countries. This book presents the expertise that has been accrued from at least five years of Dutch research in this area. The aim is to collate the results of the experiments, to learn from them, to confront them with existing theory and to share them with a larger audience in order to foster learning about transition. Given the leading position of the Netherlands in global agriculture, in a highly urbanized setting, and its leading position in the study of transition theory this should be of significant interest to students and researchers of the transitions in agriculture.

Recent analyses reveal that the vast majority of jihadists come from or have some connections with specific areas or districts within different states. They can be labelled as local/regional “hotbeds” of extremism. Molenbeek in Belgium, Gornje Maoče and Ošve in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Minneapolis in the US, Kasserine and Ben Guerdane in Tunisia, Sirte and Derna in Libya, Sinai in Egypt, Pankisi Valley and Dagestan in the Caucasus: each area has unique characteristics that lead to “exporting” fighters or creating new IS-controlled zones. Starting from the debate on the origin and nature of jihadist militancy that is dividing the most important scholars of Islam, this report outlines a broad spectrum of radicalization factors leading to the emergence of jihadists hotbeds, such as poverty, unemployment, lack of job prospects, juvenile delinquency, trafficking and smuggling, socio-political, economic and physical marginalization, the role of Salafist ideology as well as the influence of brotherhood networks. All these elements have been frequently highlighted as factors or triggers that could contribute to explaining dynamics of radicalization leading to active violent militancy under the ideals of jihadism.
