Das Buch bietet erstmals eine Einführung in die methodologischen Grundlagen des Paarinterviews in der interpretativen Sozialforschung und in methodische und methodenpraktische Aspekte seiner Anwendung. Paarinterviews werden zunehmend verwendet, aber es existieren kaum systematische Ausführungen hierzu. Wir stellen – nach einem Blick auf die Anfänge der deutschsprachigen soziologischen Paarforschung – zentral die besonderen Erkenntnisinteressen und -möglichkeiten des Paarinterviews vor: Es kann vielfältige relationale Aspekte wie Interaktionen, Aushandlungen und Ungleichheiten im Paar sowie Paarperformances und Paar-Präsentationen des Paares und als Paar in situ erfassen. Diese Erkenntnismöglichkeiten veranschaulichen wir anhand ausgewählter empirischer Anwendungen. Es folgen methodologische und methodische Überlegungen zur Anwendbarkeit, Durchführung und Gesprächsorganisation. Auch wird die Ergänzung mit Einzelinterviews und mit anderen Erhebungsformen angesprochen. Schließlich zeigen wir Grenzen dieses Erhebungsinstruments auf und stellen zuletzt ausblickende methodische und methodologische Fragen. In dem Buch greifen wir auf unsere langjährigen Erfahrungen mit Paarbefragungen zurück. Wie hängen Biographie und Paarbeziehung zusammen? In Anlehnung an Georg Simmels Konzept der sozialen Wechselwirkung wird das Modell der triadischen Relationalität sozialer Wechselwirkungen innerhalb von Paarbeziehungen, genauer Doppelkarriere-Paaren, entwickelt. Es verbindet im qualitativen Forschungsprozess biographietheoretische und paarsoziologische Ansätze. Dadurch wird es möglich, Paarbeziehungen in drei analytischen Relationen zu erfassen: als monadische, als dyadische und als triadische Relation. Das Modell der triadischen Wechselwirkungen zeichnet sich durch eine triadische, relationale und dimensionale Struktur aus. Paarbeziehungen können somit als monadische, als dyadische und als triadische Relation beschrieben werden. Auf den je biographischen und beziehungsmäßigen Aggregationsniveaus meint die monadische Relationalität die Fähigkeit individueller und kollektiver Identitätsträger, sich selbst im eigenhistorischen Bezug zum Objekt zu machen. Im Zentrum der dyadischen Relationalität steht die Beziehung zwischen den beiden Beziehungssubjekten, die aus der symbolischen Interaktion erwächst. Die triadische Relation verweist auf den Raum zwischen der biographischen Konstitutionsebene und der Ebene der Paarbeziehung. Hier wird der wechselseitige Bezug der drei eigenständigen Entitäten zwischen individuellem und kollektivem Niveau thematisiert.

This volume presents a mix of translations of classical and modern papers from the German Didaktik tradition, newly prepared essays by German scholars and practitioners writing from within the tradition, and interpretive essays by U.S. scholars. It brings this tradition, which virtually dominated German curricular thought and teacher education until the 1960s when American curriculum theory entered Germany--and which is now experiencing a renaissance--to the English-speaking world, where it has been essentially unknown. The intent is to capture in one volume the core (at least) of the tradition of Didaktik and to communicate its potential relevance to English-language curricularists and teacher educators. It introduces a theoretical tradition which, although very different in almost every respect from those we know, offers a set of approaches that suggest ways of thinking about problems of reflection on curricular and teaching praxis (the core focus of the tradition) which the editors believe are accessible to North American readers--with appropriate "translation." These ways of thinking and related praxis are very relevant to notions such as reflective teaching and the discourse on teachers as professionals. By raising the possibility that the "new" tradition of Didaktik can be highly suggestive for thinking through issues related to a number of central ideas within contemporary discourse--and for exploring the implications of these ideas for both teacher education and for a curriculum theory appropriate to these new contexts for theorizing, this book opens up a gold mine of theoretical and practical possibilities.
