Weiterhin wird über die Vor- und Nachteile der Flüchtlinge für Bereiche wie Gesellschaft, Wirtschaft und innere Sicherheit diskutiert. Das Jahr 2015 erinnerte von den Flüchtlingszahlen her an die Zeit des Zweiten Weltkrieges, in der etwa 60 Millionen Menschen auf der Flucht vor Krieg, Gewalt und Hunger waren. Und gerade Deutschland, als damaliger Verursacher, scheint aus dieser dunklen Geschichte gelernt zu haben wie kaum ein anderes Land. Die Bundeskanzlerin Merkel versprach den Flüchtlingen und Asylsuchenden Schutz vor Terror und Krieg, wodurch ein Flüchtlingsstrom nach Deutschland ausgelöst wurde. Dadurch war 2015 das Jahr mit einem der größten Zuwanderungsströme nach Deutschland seit der Gründung der Bundesrepublik. Etwa 1,1 Millionen Menschen wurden mit dem EDV-System EASY registriert und auf die Erstaufnahmeeinrichtungen verteilt. Darunter waren circa 40% syrische Flüchtlinge, welche in die Bundesrepublik einreisten. Die Dunkelziffer wird vermutlich höher ausfallen. Der Belastung zum Trotz muss diesen Menschen in Deutschland geholfen werden, hierzu zählen Integration, Bildung, finanzielle und soziale Unterstützung. Aber schafft es Deutschland diese Aufgabe zu bewältigen? Schaffen wir es am Beispiel der amerikanischen Geschichte, einen sogenannten "Melting Pot" zu erschaffen, also das Verschmelzen verschiedener Kulturen zu einer homogenen Masse3, und damit diese Menschen voll und ganz in unsere Kultur einzugliedern? Oder überwiegen die negativen Auswirkungen auf die deutsche Gesellschaft? Welche Vorteile können wir aus diesem Zuwanderungsstrom ziehen, oder wirkt er sich gar negativ auf uns aus? Ist die innere Sicherheit gefährdet? All diese Fragen werden in dieser Bachelorarbeit diskutiert. Zudem wird versucht Lösungsansätze für mögliche Problemstellungen herauszuarbeiten.

By linking the experiences of immigrant families with the increased reliance on cheap and flexible workers for care and domestic work in Southern Europe, this study documents the lived experiences of neglected actors of globalization — migrant women — as well as the transformations of Western families more generally. However, while describing in detail the structural and cultural contexts within which these women have to operate, the book questions dominant paradigms about women as passive victims of patriarchal structures and brings out instead their agency and the creative ways in which they take control of their lives in often difficult circumstances. Based on extensive ethnographic fieldwork and interviews, the author offers a valuable dual comparison between two Southern European countries on the one hand and between two migrant groups, one Christian and one Muslim, on the other, thus bringing to light unique detailed data on migration decision-making, settlement and on the multiple ways in which different women cope with the consequences of their transnational lives.

This volume brings together key findings of the long-term research project ‘Religious Individualisation in Historical Perspective’ (Max Weber Centre for Advanced Cultural and Social Studies, Erfurt University). Combining a wide range of disciplinary approaches, methods and theories, the volume assembles over 50 contributions that explore and compare processes of religious individualisation in different religious environments and historical periods, in particular in Asia, the Mediterranean, and Europe from antiquity to the recent past. Contrary to standard theories of modernisation, which tend to regard religious individualisation as a specifically modern or early modern as well as an essentially Western or Christian phenomenon, the chapters reveal processes of religious individualisation in a large variety of non-Western and pre-modern scenarios. Furthermore, the volume challenges prevalent views that regard religions primarily as collective phenomena and provides nuanced perspectives on the appropriation of religious agency, the pluralisation of religious options, dynamics of de-traditionalisation and privatisation, the development of elaborated notions of the self, the facilitation of religious deviance, and on the notion of dividuality.
