Please allow me to explain. I'm a Muslim. I wrote this satiric book because I'm tired of turning on the news and seeing people (and I use the term loosely) who have Middle Eastern names doing terrible things in the name of my religion, i.e. forcing kidnapped children into marriage, beheadings, honor rapes, etc. A rational Muslim doesn't think these things please God. Sometimes, especially in the company of non-Muslim friends, I'm embarrassed to claim I worship under the big inclusive Islamic umbrella because of those people. I'm not alone. I estimate there are hundreds of millions of Muslims who feel the same way - probably the vast majority of the world's 1,600,000,000 Muslims. I have the ability to write this book to fight back; to try to reclaim what is ours. So I did. To the Muslim hate-mongers, please don't think this book vindicates your hate. Intolerance has never bred peace and camaraderie. Jesus didn't hate (or at least I don't think he did -- I'll keep it real, we haven't actually talked). As you'll see, nothing in this book insults the Islamic faith or any prophet. It's not hate speech. Its aim is to foster positive change within the Muslim world, through humor, poignant commentary and shame, by convincing "Muslims" to stop doing un-Islamic things in the name of Islam. It's not Islamic to put a Muslim man (or a man of any other faith) in a cage and to set him on fire. If just a few people who aim to join a terror group read this book and realize how un-Islamic their plan is, and how it's misguided to think terror pleases God, and instead decide to stay home, get an education, raise a family, be a positive member of the global community and live normal peaceful, lawful, loving lives, then this book will have done some good. This book is dedicated to the voiceless, peaceful people who died violently in the name of religion.

Fact: Chocolate contains the alkaloid theobromine, which in high doses can be toxic to humans, and in even small amounts can kill dogs, parrots, horses, and cats. This means that despite its name, the Kit-Kat candy bar is not a recommended snack for your kitty-cat. I wonder how many cats have died because of this confusion. Fact: The most germ-laden place on your toilet isn't the seat or even the bowl--it's the handle. The solution: Don't flush. Let the next guy worry about it. There are "just the facts"--and then there are just the facts that will frighten the bejeezus out of you. And thanks to this little gem of a bathroom book, you'll never look at the world the same way again, without, er, dry heaving a little bit. From the sneaky fish that can swim up our genitals to the E. coli bacteria lurking in the very water we drink, disturbing phenomena are everywhere we turn. Educational, entertaining, and undeniably horrifying, this book isn't guaranteed to help you, um, go to the bathroom, but it's certain to make your time there more...informed.

A woman who, to his delight, turns out to be one of his closest childhood friends. Treasured by Lexi Blake David Hawthorne has a great life. All he needs to do is finish the book he’s working on and his tenure will be assured. When he gets invited to interview a reclusive expert, he knows he’s gotten lucky. But being the stepson of Sean Taggart comes with its drawbacks, including an overprotective mom who sends a security detail to keep him safe. Slayed by Darkness by Alexandra Ivy Only an idiot would try to kidnap Jayla. She’s a take-no-prisoner kind of vampire who rebelled against the previous King of Vampires, and now regularly battles with both human and demon enemies who resent the success of Dreamscape casino she manages in Hong Kong. So when she’s snatched off the streets, she doesn’t bother to struggle. Instead she starts plotting her slow, bloody revenge. The last creature she expects when she arrives at her destination is Azrael, the mysterious mercenary vampire she killed a century ago. The Daredevil by Dylan Allen “I dare you to let me watch...” It was the wickedest of propositions, made by the most devilish of men. It doesn’t matter that Tyson Wilde has got a killer smile, wears a suit like it’s his job, and oozes spine-tingling sex appeal. I should say no. Because beneath the surface of that cool, disinterested exterior, lies passion hot enough to burn. I danced too close to it once and have the scars to prove it. So, on any other night, in any other city, and if he’d been even a fraction less mouthwatering, I would have been able to resist. But it’s my birthday, we’re in Paris, and it’s him. **Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you’ll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

When it comes to the gun control debate, there are two kinds of data: data that's accurate, and data that left-wing billionaires, politicians, and media want you to believe is accurate. In The War on Guns, economist and gun rights advocate John Lott turns a skeptical eye to well-funded anti-gun studies and stories that perpetuate false statistics to frighten Americans into giving up their guns.

“Bruce Schneier’s amazing book is the best overview of privacy and security ever written.”—Clay Shirky “Bruce Schneier’s amazing book is the best overview of privacy and security ever written.”—Clay Shirky Your cell phone provider tracks your location and knows who’s with you. Your online and in-store purchasing patterns are recorded, and reveal if you're unemployed, sick, or pregnant. Your e-mails and texts expose your intimate and casual friends. Google knows what you’re thinking because it saves your private searches. Facebook can determine your sexual orientation without you ever mentioning it. The powers that surveil us do more than simply store this information. Corporations use surveillance to manipulate not only the news articles and advertisements we each see, but also the prices we’re offered. Governments use surveillance to discriminate, censor, chill free speech, and put people in danger worldwide. And both sides share this information with each other or, even worse, lose it to cybercriminals in huge data breaches. Much of this is voluntary: we cooperate with corporate surveillance because it promises us convenience, and we submit to government surveillance because it promises us protection. The result is a mass surveillance society of our own making. But have we given up more than we’ve gained? In Data and Goliath, security expert Bruce Schneier offers another path, one that values both security and privacy. He brings his bestseller up-to-date with a new preface covering the latest developments, and then shows us exactly what we can do to reform government surveillance programs, shake up surveillance-based business models, and protect our individual privacy. You'll never look at your phone, your computer, your credit cards, or even your car in the same way again.
