Aus Anlass des 100-jährigen Gedenkens der Gründung der Tamilischen Evangelisch-Lutherischen Kirche (TELC) am 14. Januar 2019 gibt das Ev.-Luth. Missionswerk Leipzig e. V. einen Band mit Betrachtungen zu zehn Bibeltexten heraus. Jeder der ausgewählten Evangeliumstexte wird dabei aus indischer und deutscher Perspektive besprochen und stellt somit für Verkündiger und Verkündigerinnen eine interessante Materialsammlung dar. Die Beiträger sind Pfarrer und Pfarrerinnen aus der Tamilischen Evangelisch-Lutherischen Kirche, aus der sächsischen Landeskirche und der Evangelischen Kirche Mitteldeutschlands. Grußworte der Bischöfe und eine Einführung in die Geschichte der Tranquebar-Mission runden den Band ab. Das Buch, das sich als Jubiläumsgabe versteht, soll den Gedanken der Partnerschaft zwischen der indischen Kirche und den Trägerkirchen des Leipziger Missionswerkes befördern. Sein Herausgeber Hans-Georg Tannhäuser ist Leiter des Asien/Pazifik-Referates des Leipziger Missionswerkes. [Tamil Evangelical Lutheran Church (1919–2019) – A Centenary. Reflections on Selected Texts of the Gospel from Indian and German Perspectives] The Tamil Evangelical Lutheran Church (T.E.L.C.) was founded on January 14th in 1919. On the occasion of the centenary celebrations the Evangelical Lutheran Mission (Department) in Leipzig edited a collection with meditations on ten bible texts according to the new lectionary. Each of the selected texts is reflected by an Indian and a German author and shows in this way different perspectives of view. At the same time an interesting collection of ideas is handed over to the preachers. The participating authors are pastors of the T.E.L.C., the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Saxony und the Evangelical Church of Middle Saxony. Greetings by the bishops of the mentioned churches and an introduction into the history of the Tranquebar mission accomplish the work. This anniversary publication is a contribution to deepen the partnership between the Indian church and the Pillar churches of the Leipzig Mission. The editor Hans-Georg Tannhäuser is the Secretary of the Asia Pacific Department and Deputy Director of the Evangelical Lutheran Mission in Leipzig.

Der Autor reiste 1981 als 24-jähriger Medizinstudent erstmals und allein über 9 Wochen durch Indien und besuchte im Januar 2019 nach 38 Jahren erneut Südindien zusammen mit dem Bischof der Ev.-Luth. Landeskirche Sachsen, dem Regionalbischof von Halle-Wittenberg und Vertretern des Leipziger Missionswerks (LMW) neben weiteren Gästen. Anlass ist das 100-jährige Jubiläum der Tamilischen Ev.-Luth. Kirche (TELC). Anhand von 70 ungeschönten Bildern wirft der sehr persönliche Bericht des Ururenkels eines Missionars des LMW Schlaglichter auf die gegenwärtige Alltagssituation der dicht bevölkerten Städte und die extremen Gegensätze zwischen Arm und Reich. Die Verdoppelung der Bevölkerung seit 1981 sowie die Umweltbelastung mit Luftverschmutzung, Lärm und Plastikmüll werden thematisiert und illustriert. Ein Seitenhieb verweist auf die aufgeregte Klimadiskussion in Deutschland. Es wird die Glaubensstärke der Christen in Südindien kurz beschrieben im Vergleich zur zahlenmäßig weitaus stärkeren Gruppe der Hindus. Soziale Projekte der TELC und des Rotary Clubs von Madras (gegr. 1929) werden angesprochen. Die abenteuerliche Reise, die Motivation, die Wirkungsstätten und die noch spürbare Anerkennung des Missionars Carl Friedrich Kremmer (1817-1887) und seiner bis 1972 teilweise in Indien tätigen Nachkommen bilden die Rahmenhandlung des reich bebilderten Reiseheftes von 84 Seiten. Wohnstätten für Kinder und Behinderte blieben von dieser Arbeit bis heute erhalten. The author passed in 1981 as a 24-year old medical student a 9 weeks practical course in Delhi. He travelled in that year for the first time alone during 3 weeks through India by rail.
